It really says something about a city's values when you examine the volume and quality of it's arts and entertainment venues. Clearly, St. Louis is a city that places a high value on culture! Admission to this beautiful museum is absolutely free. The collection is very eclectic, from paintings to pottery, from sculpture to furniture.... Would you like to see... More

St Louis never ceases to amaze me. Another great fine was the FREE art museum with free parking. A perfect Friday night date as it is open until 9 pm and as I said free. A nice variety of quality art.

So happy to learn the art museum was free and it has some really amazing paintings. Would definitely recommend. Worth visiting for the Monet alone!

I enjoyed a relaxed afternoon at this museum. There is everything here from contemporary art to ancient sculptures. I am not well versed in art so I appreciated the gallery talks gave me even more interest in the new world of art I am exploring. I will definitely visit this museum again.

This great Art Museum began back in 1904 at the St. Louis World's Fair - one of the few permanent buildings (to protect great European and other art). All of the great old grand masters are here (El Greco to Rembrandt), plus a beautiful new addition features contemporary art and special traveling exhibits. Fine dining in Panorama restaurant on first... More

If you've got a few hours to spare this is a great place to come. Varied collections of high quality art in many forms. Everyone should find a favorite.

We stopped by when we need to burn a couple of hours before dinner. Free museum, free parking (in places). Very nice place. Had a good time with my wife looking at and discussing art. Wish the American artists area wasn't under construction at the time. Lots of stuff to look at. A worthy stop.

The St. Louis Art Museum is one of only two buildings left standing after the 1904 World's Fair. The impressive architecture houses more than 30,000 works of art. Impressive examples of American art, far eastern ceramics, and the world's largest collection of Hans Beckmann paintings. The middle panel of Monet's water lilies triptych is here, as well as Matisse's iconic... More

I don't go to art museums much, but I should have been to the one in my own home city a long time ago. Right off the bat was a large collection of Max Beckman paintings that I had just learned about in German classes. We went for the special collection of American Folk Art, which was outstanding.

My only complaint is, we couldn’t stay longer. We stopped in on our long road trip. We toured for about 2 hours and only got to see maybe a third of the exhibits. We will return and spend all day here next time. Our 9yo daughter absolutely loved the history and artifacts dating back thousands of years. Did I mention... More
