Once voted in the top 12 architecturally significant libraries in the world. Yes, the world. A beautiful masterpiece, a must see when visiting St. Louis.

Sadly, this is a beautiful building, but you can’t look around or sit and read. I understand corona has everything closed....but to close a library for months, is a sad loss to a city that is clearly struggling to have anything to offer its residents.

I have NEVER been to a library where you can't sit and read. We visited 2 public libraries in the area and were not allowed to sit and read in either. No tables or chairs there. You can only stay 30 minutes too. I understand there is a virus but there is no reason why all of the tables and chairs have been removed. There was less than 5 people in each library!! So sad to have all of those workers there and all of the money spent for utilities from tax payers yet they can't sit and read????

I've used this library many times over the years. Very helpful were the old newspapers available on microfilm.

Treat yourself to a tour of this library. It is stunning. We attended a lecture on architecture, which was excellent. However, now through June, the library is hosting an architectural history display, a must to see.

This main branch of the St. Louis Public Library downtown has retained its original charm after renovation. The architecture alone is worth a walk-through. No admission fee, but you have to have a library card just like any other library to borrow books.

It’s a beautiful place to conduct research, which is best arranged in advance. The staff are professional and personable.

There is a small free? parking ‘lot’, and metered street parking close by.

Very pleasant place to visit. We appreciated the architecture, history, beautiful art...and creative design. There are exhibits and helpful staff to share information about the library.

The architecture in the main hall leaves me breathless and I have visited many times. If you have time during your visit to St. Louis, and you like beautiful buildings, take time to see it. Campbell House is nearby. It is noteworthy because it is still filled with mostly original furniture and possessions of the Campbells.
