Anytime we are driving about the St. Louis area, we know that we can always find a parking spot and score a great drink or dinner in the CWE. Bar Italia and Herbie's and Evangeline's are three great eateries, each distinct in its own way. There is a nice book store, antique stores, and the chess museum.

St Louis Central West End has lots of well preserved 1900s architecture to view. There are many good to excellent restaurants. Several shops to visit. Good people watching. My wife and l like to spend an afternoon walking the area, entering the shops and finally selecting a place for dinner. We always have a good time when we are there.

When the weather is nice, there are so many patios with amazing food to enjoy here! I especially love Drunken Fish, Pi, and Bar Louie. I also feel safe here.

Most of the St. Louis area is a great place to bring a family. But the Central West End is a different story. On our short walk from parking spot to restaurant, we were accosted by multiple aggressive men and women, who would walk up to each passerby to ask for money. This is the norm for this neighborhood. Also,... More

The CWE has a few good restaurants and is a great place to people watch and have fun. The city does a good job keeping it clean yet elegant it's not. Parking is a major problem. Crime is a threat.

Plenty of things to do here; shopping, restaurants, bar hopping, etc. One of the trendier, wealthier sections of St. Louis so plenty of historical homes to look at as well. One thing that doesn't get enough credit is the World Chess Hall of Fame. Very interesting exhibits, but covering much more than chess, and it's FREE! Great part of St.... More
