Straight in the hood! Save your money, AVOID
Jul 2019
This place is straight up in the hood! The grounds are in severe need of a severe makeover. Had we not been required to pay with CC before hand we would have kept on going! The old house is run down. Tape holding up the old wallpaper. The "dining table" our party sat at was literally a piece of plywood covered with a cheap table cloth. The meal was terrible, The "show" was cheesy as was the mediocre acting. The entire evening was a waste and the price was way to high. AVOID this dump at all cost 👎👎

We had the best time from the minute we hit the door. The welcoming from the actors, to the appetizers on down the line. Happy hour was fun before the show and the bar was GREAT!!! I ordered the Turkey Cordon Blue and loved everything. My husband ordered the Chicken Parm and our two other guests had the fish, all satisfying. We will be back when the show changes next to Flaming Saddles.

Overpriced and terribly disappointing.

The house and grounds are in sad disrepair and if you have to park in the lower parking lot it is not easy to get up to the door. We had no impression of any management presence, and that was odd. A lack of management never bodes well for an evening out. We wanted my mom to be given a big role because it was her 50th birthday. That didn't happen. The appetizers were an odd mix of Italian (ravioli), Asian (crab rangoon) and a cheese ball (hadn't seen one of those in years!) with some dry brown bread. Oh, and a mix of raw veg with a watered down salad dressing dip. The entrees were boring, not of high quality and served lukewarm. Service was pretty slapdash, but it wasn't easy for them with the tight table arrangement. My sister in law started to feel anxious about being so crowded and closed in. The actors were so-so; they probably would have seemed better if they had a decent script but the story was stupid and badly written. The "mansion" was disappointing in that it was dingy and run down. needing some rehab and a good cleaning. It felt like a house that nobody cared about...and we paid good money for this dismal experience!

I had the best time when I went to the Bissell Mansion for my Birthday in April. The food was delicious and they accommodated Myself and my fiancee, who are both vegan. The dinner play was very fun as well.

First night in St. Louis for my husband’s bday. Found this place on Groupon and he loved a Murder Mystery dinner we did elsewhere. I was kinda disappointed that this didn’t live up to that one, but you never really should expect that, I guess. There were two actors and the rest were parts read by the audience. We were in two rooms, but more like one room. We couldn’t even hear some of the lines from the other guests. The time between acts when they served the salad, entree, and dessert were all too long. We were certainly getting restless. By the end of the show, half of our table had already left. The appetizers were a strange combination but delicious. Fried ravioli. Zucchini bread. Crab Rangoon. Cheese ball and crackers. The actual murder part was kinda lousy as well. I got the murderer correct, as did 90% of the crowd. Its not as fun when the answer is just right in front of your face. Parking was kinda difficult. The steak and potatoes were delicious.

Entertaining night
Aug 2018 • Family
We enjoyed a great evening at the Bissell Mansion. I made reservations for a Saturday night. It was pretty easy to find, and close to downtown St Louis.

The Mansion has a lot of history, which was interesting to learn about. We received our roles as we entered, then had appetizers. We were seated for dinner in the dining room and saw that the room was nearly full.

We enjoyed the play, and especially the participation of the audience. The two actors played off the crowd very well and made it fun. The play (a Halloween murder based on the Addams Family) was entertaining.

We didn’t have high expectations for the meal. But we were very surprised. We each ordered the steak and they were well season and cooked perfectly. Hey came with vegetables and potatoes. Couple that with the appetizers, salads and dessert and it made for a great meal.

All in all, the Bissell Mansion Murder Mystery theater was a great evening.

It was fun and the food was good

I visited Bissell Mansion with two friends to celebrate a birthday. The murder mystery dinner was in 3 acts with a break between each. We started off with appetizers, had act 1, salad, act 2 and dinner. The appetizers were good - the selection included raw veggies, cheese, fried ravioli and a few other items. All 3 of us had steak. It was thin, but it was good and had a good flavor. It came with parsley red potatoes and cooked vegetables which included carrots, cauliflower and broccoli. There is a cash bar and two glasses of dry wine are served during the meal.

The theater consisted of a man and a woman (rednecks) and all the other participants were the audience guests. We had been given scripts when we walked in. It was all conducted inside two adjoining rooms. My party and I are all early risers and we were tired by the end of the 2nd act and we left. That being said, I obviously do not know what happened in the 3rd act, but there was no hint of a murder or any kind of mystery in the first two acts and I was left wondering when it was going to happen. It was not what I expected and reminded me of the style of the Silver Dollar City train robbers (if you have experienced that). Two of us used a Groupon which gave us $10 off each from the price of $54.95. It was different, but I would not have chosen this as a birthday event if I had known ahead of time what it was like.

Good food and good show.
Apr 2018
We enjoyed the show. We had some kids with us and some of the characters were lost on the kids. (characters from old TV shows/comic strips) However, they had fun. You could be a part of the show if you want or sit back and watch. The appetizers were a strange combo. We had crab rangoons, fried ravioli, zucchini bread, and cheese. The meal was good. We had the options of steak, chicken parmesan, or grilled fish. All of our party enjoyed our food. The service was good and the actors were kind.
