Went to a concert Saturday evening. It was cold outside and I didn't see one person take off their coat while inside. My feet were numb by the time the concert was over. The acoustics were terrible; all the notes ran together. The plastic folding chairs were uncomfortable and squeezed together. Awarded two stars due to the free parking....oh yippee.

The Pageant on Delmar Loop in St Louis is usually a great place to see bands. But last night was the exception. We had 4 front row balcony, center stage seats. The sound in this very good seat was terrible, couldn't make out what Government Mule was singing. The lights were even worse. I felt like I was on stage. Throughout the whole show, the lights behind the band swirled and shone right in our faces. I mean start to finish, we had extremely bright lights flashing as if the band wanted to see the audience rather than the other way around. Whomever was responsible, take some advice, we paid to see them, they didn't pay to see us. It was very uncomfortable to sit through.

Outside temps in the 30s, Sold Out show, you’d think Joe Edwards could afford to turn the furnace on to provide a little heat & comfort….Think again. I will think twice before attending another show at the Pageant in the winter.

1) never attend a "general admission" event here. EVer. You will have to get there 3 -4 hours before the event. Steel, giant "girders" are in the way on the sides.
2) the people working here are pretty downright rude.. that's pretty much anywhere. I say this for 100 reasons and won't list them all here. they rushed us up and down stairwells yelling at us , "you can't watch events on the stairwell" which we weren't doing.. we were were stuck behind others, also walking
3) the sound is muddy.. terrible acoustics. I know the owner had the sound redone after the opening of this place.
4 if you sit to the side areas, your view will be blocked by speakers and girders connected to the ceiling
5) this place continues to book acts that are far too large for its capacity: Primus, Cake, and others...
I refuse to attend any event, when in St. Louis, at the Pageant.. it is always a horrible experience attending events here. If you enjoy bad sound, blocked views, sticky floors, this is the venue for you. To date, I have seen 5 shows at this place and all were horrendous in sound, with blocked views. If you want a seat for any general admission show, you had better arrive 4+ hours before the event. An absolutely horrendous place for concerts.

We took four young girls to see Jacob Sartorius at the Pageant in St. Louis. The Security didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. We waited outside more than a half an hour after the VIP event was to start because there was no where inside for us to go. Since we had VIP tickets, we should have been able to get to the merchandise tables before all the general admission people were let in. They didn't get the merchandise tables set up until 10 minutes before all general admissions were let in, so you lost your spots in the front of the concert hall that you paid dearly for. The staff was rude and seemed to hate their jobs. The merchandise tables were set up poorly as the coffee bar and merchandise were in the same room and no one could tell who was in line for what.

Until last night at the pageant in St. Louis I'd never been to a venue where hundreds of people miss most of the first set because the TSA flunkies running security want to rifle through every pocket of every purse on the premises, wand you with a metal detector then aggressively pat you down.... I kid you not I thought I was being arrested. If you value privacy or just prefer not to be stripped searched on your night out go somewhere else.

I've been to the Pageant on numerous occasions; kept giving it another chance and found results pretty much the same every time.
First of all to get in you have to play the entrance 'game'. Take off work early so you can get into Halo Bar before it fills up. Halo Bar patrons get 1st entry into the venue for the table/seat grab. (No holding seats for friends who didn't make it in.) Halo Bar can fill up anywhere from 2 - 3 hours before doors open for a sold out show. Nice guarantee of bar sales for the Pageant!
Then the line begins forming outside for everyone who didn't make it into Halo. This line begins as soon as Halo is full so you can be standing out there a very long time, rain or shine, sweltering hot or freezing, if you care at all about having trying to find a decent spot to try and enjoy the concert.
Once you're in, you get to look forward to long bar lines to order drinks from bartenders who often have an attitude. I will say the drinks are usually pretty good though once you get one.
Restroom lines are hit and miss. Best to go while the music is playing to mitigate wait.
Crowds are often rowdy and unfortunately the staff seems to care little about managing properly. I have seen beligerent clientele continue to be given drinks and staff ignore their drunken harassment of other patrons.
There are other good music venues in the STL market; I know I'll spend my dollars elsewhere from now on.

I attended the El Monstero (a Pink Floyd cover band) last night 12/18/10. This was my first time at the Pageant. The music would have been good - I think/guess - but the volume was obnoxious and oppressive. Mine and my wifes ears are still ringing today. It seems that either the folks at the Pageant think that blowing peoples eardrums will increase enjoyment or that the the people performing are so horrible that stifling volume will hide their lack of talent (which I doubt is the case with people in El Monstero).
I have traveled a good deal and enjoy live music. I have been to countles clubs/venues and heard countless acts in places like Nashville, Austin (the live music capital of the US), LA, Chicago and New York. I would have to say the Pagent is decent - good for STL.
In terms of service and crowd management in this place SUCKS! The bar staff is unfreindly. The wait staff is inadaquate. The crowd and patron management is NON-EXISTANT. Just prior to the start of the show & due to failure to keep isle clear and well managed on my way back from the bar (due to LONG waits to get a drink or place an order) an idiot slammed my drinks into me and I wore the contents for the remainder of the evening. When I went to the bar with my concern and to replace the drinks I was only told I would have to pay for the replacements and offered no help to clean up at all.
Had I been in any number of venues in STL or eleswhere the drinks would have been replaced free of charge and some help would have been provided to make certain I was comfortable and able to enjoy the show.
In the age of the internet and social media service and quality (regardless of product) cannot be overlooked - or completely forgotten. The Pageant does not get this!!!
My advise to any possible patron is to consider your choices carefully before going to the Pageant and spending your hard earned $. If you go prepare for the assault!

Been here about 3 times is all (out of towner). Was present for Anthology - Allman Brothers tribute on Sept 7. Venue is great. It is clean roomy and every place I have sat, no complaints. This current band.......kicked ass. They far exceeded my expectations. I have seen Jonny Lang there as well as Billy Gibbons.
Now for the price of the beer - BALL PARK PRICES!!!! So just drink before you go in and then enjoy some beers at the connected Halo Bar.

Women being physically assaulted and then letting the man who did the assault stay in the venue for the show, and the woman is thrown out and not allowed back in! Zero ethics and disgusting manager. I will never spent a dime at this place again. to be humiliated by staff and let assault occur here and they let the guy get away with it while he can enjoy the show. Physical assault is a crime, The Pageant needs to realize this fact. They make the victim suffer by being thrown out. Makes sense right?

My 17 year old daughter and friends are interested in attending a gig there. Are there any recommended hotels to stay nearby?

Is it safe, my 20 yr old Grand Daughter and her friend are going by themselves on Halloween. I am just worried about the parking and them getting to their car and home safe.
