About
Tucked away in Affton, Missouri stands the country home of the pioneer banker, Louis A. Benoist. Today, his mansion has been completely restored today to its original beauty from 1853. The house, now a historic museum, is owned and maintained by the Affton Historical Society. They began Oakland's restoration back in the early 1970s. Visit us for a historic tour of one of Affton's most hidden gems that was saved and still stands today. View our calendar for upcoming events and open house times.

Wonderful

Always enjoy going to the Oakland House. Great venue for weddings, and lunch. The volunteers who have worked on this home have done a wonderful job. The grounds are beautiful, the inside is clean & open.

Santa House and Easter Bunny Hutch
Dec 2018 • Family
Oakland house is the place to go to visit Santa and the Easter bunny. It is the perfect spot to take a picture with daffodils in front of the historic home in spring. In winter it’s decorated with beautiful Christmas wreaths. Inside you will be greeted by the affton historical society volunteers. For five dollars you get a puppet show, cookie, and can take your own picture with Santa or the Easter bunny. It is a Perfect setting for a family with small children. The kids are entertained and you don’t have to wait in line at the mall. You can take pictures with your own phone or camera. It’s a hidden secret in Affton!

Great for a wedding!
Dec 2018 • Family
I had my reception at the Oakland House and it was beautiful! The grounds and house are both great for gathering and dancing. We had a tent outside for all the tables.

Santa's House in December is also great for kids. Mine love it. Very reasonable fee and you can take your own pictures! You get a cookie too!

Excellent example of a local historic treasure, architecture and interior design. Delightful place to bring children during the holidays, especially during Christmas and Easter.

Inexpensive and enjoyable

This house is very impressive and there's a LOT of history to learn about on the tour. The furnishings are not as authentic to the house as other historic houses in St. Louis, but it's still worth visiting. I feel the only problem is, is that the tour will only be as good as the docent provided. Also, because they rent the place out for weddings, it might not necessarily be available to tour? But I understand they need to make money to assist in the upkeep.
