With the mission "to ignite and sustain lifelong science and technology learning", the Saint Louis Science Center is one of the top five science centers in the United States, and has been named one of the Top 10 Science Centers for Families by Parents Magazine and one of America's most visited museums by Forbes Traveler Magazine. The complex includes over 56,000 sq-ft of interactive science-technology exhibits that are part of the Science Center's free general admission. Opening in June 2016 is GROW, a one-acre outdoor exhibit that will take visitors on a journey of food, to gain a deeper understanding of our food supply. The Science Center's ticketed areas include the OMNIMAX, a four-story IMAX Dome theater; the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, one of the world's largest planetariums; and the Discovery Room, an activity area for families with younger children.

Caroatbastrop- So glad you enjoyed the McDonnell Planetarium, the northern part of our complex that lies in Forest Park. With North America's largest planetarium chamber and examples of the Mercury and Gemini spacecraft (built in St. Louis), we have much of interest for those of a spacey lean. -John Wharton, Managing Director of Facility Operations More

We had business in the St. Louis area yesterday with a couple hours to fill so we opted for a quick visit to the Saint Louis Science Center. Access was very easy off Interstate 64 with plenty of handicapped parking. There is a parking fee of $10 but there is no admission charge to the museum. The Omni Max, Discovery... More

Plenty to do for all ages. We were traveling with 3 & 6 year olds, Nice snack bars for quick snacks. Kids especially enjoyed face painting (extra charge for this).

Visited with my siblings... we're all adults :) We had a good time trying different games and answering questions, climbing all the floors to see what the museum had to offer. As we passed through there were many families around, and all of them enjoyed the games and experiences. It's a fun, interactive place to be; I'm glad we decided... More

great idea to charge by attraction rather than admission. we saw what we wanted to and didn't feel pressured to "see everything" to make the admission fee worth it. planetarium was a the best.

We enjoyed our visit to the Science Center. It was really busy with to school groups. The day was rainy also so I am sure this added to the crowds. Considering all that is was still a fun place to visit. Lots of fun activities to try. Very few of them were not working. Nothing worse then going somewhere and... More

This was a free attraction, which is a plus. There were a few interesting attractions, but none that aren't at other places we've gone or that hold attention for very long. We (two adults and 3 kids- 13, 11, 7) spent about two hours and were more than ready to leave.

Andrea R- I'm a bit surprised you were unable to find much to interest you in over 90,000 sq-ft of permanent exhibits spread across two buildings spanning an Interstate highway, and featuring an IMAX Dome experience, North America's largest planetarium chamber, one of the largest ball machine mazes in the world, a fully participatory life science lab, paleontology workshop, Makerspace,... Our family had a great time at the museum. We came for a few hours while in St. Louis for spring break. My kids range from 9-16 and all had fun. Lots of hands on exhibits and learning experiences. The science show by the dinosaur exhibit was very fun. My kids loved this the best. My husband loved the Blue... More

Visited during Spring Break Mar 2017, can't beat the free admission for a few hours of walking inside and exploration fun. Paid parking but that's the norm most attractions. A nice mix of hands-on attractions for those interested and observing/learning for others. Good for inquisitive kids. Was a nice visit, has a small food court as well if you need... More

I really liked the Science Center and the Planetarium- what little bit we saw. My daughter had an ok time, and so did I. But the security guy who was really rude to us ruined our visit. The door said they were open til 530, but they made us leave at 430. It was a huge bummer.

Amber S- I regret that you felt rushed in your abbreviated visit a few days ago, and confused by our hours. Because we're an attraction popular with locals and tourists, and because spring holiday periods vary widely around the region, we've posted "spring break" hours that have differing closing times from mid-March to mid-April, depending on the holidays involved and...
