They advertise on their website that capacity is limited to help with Covid 19 and that masks are required for those who aren’t vaccinated. The day we went, hardly no one was wearing masks. I asked the worker how they were verifying that people were vaccinated and she said they weren’t. That’s great... especially since most of the kids that are there aren’t going to wear masks because they are too young. Also they were at full capacity. There weren’t any workers trying to make sure spaces weren’t too full. They weren’t offering masks to anyone either.
Very unimpressed with the steps this facility was taking to ensure the safety of others and especially the children. If you want to go somewhere that’s actually following CDC guidelines go to the zoo.

When we heard that Magic House was reopening and had strict safety measures in place, we purchased tickets and drove cross-state to take our 7-year-old granddaughter. Our visit lasted approximately 30 minutes. Not only were people bumping into each other, but we were among the few wearing masks. We've visited the Magic House before and understand how excited children can become, but it was absolutely out of control. Many of the displays were closed due to safety concerns, but that just meant more people crowded near the displays and activities that were available. Magic House management disrespected the public in three ways: By exaggerating how safe it would be, not enforcing the wearing of masks, and having no plan in place to direct traffic. They are clearly more interested in profit than people. There is zero chance we would ever visit again.

Overpriced and incredibly crowded to the point of feeling unsafe. We took our 4 grandchildren on a rainy day knowing that this would potentially cause more crowding, but what we found was awful.
*I’d like to see a response here from the owners about whether they are required by law/the fire department to limit the number of people who can be in the building at one time. This just can’t be right.
Also a few of the exhibits were broken, and it was stuffy and sometimes a little smelly.
For the most part Iur 2 younger grandchildren (5 and 8) did enjoy the exhibits/activities that they were able to get to, but there weren’t many things that were interesting for the 10 and 13 year old.
We were there years ago and enjoyed it but I won’t go back and wouldn’t recommend it.
We left and spent the rest of the rainy afternoon at the zoo. Everyone, kids included, felt a huge sense of relief to be out of the Magic House.

My 4 year old daughter and I went here while stopping in St Louis. We were there for 3 hours but could have easily been there longer. There is so much to see and do. We were there on a Wednesday morning and there were quite a few kids there. When you walk in you can go left or right. To the left are the exhibits that can change and to the right are the permanent ones that are more interactive. My daughter definitely had more fun with the permanent exhibits. I think she would have needed to be a little older for the exhibits on the left side. There is lots of learning and playing to be done here!

Went there with our son and his family to let the grandkids run around. A little pricey when you pay the same price for everyone, one year and older. Four adults in our group with a two and four year old made the total close to $100. A decent chunk given the entire experience is for very young kids. That being said, my grandkids had a very good time. There were a ton of interactive activities for them to do. There is a mock grocery store set up, a bank, a veterinary clinic, auto shop, kitchen, and many more areas. Gives a chance for some real world teaching opportunities. Two is on the too young to really enjoy it side. Four to eight seems to be a more appropriate age range. Could see this be a place to go to routinely if you lived in the area. They do offer a membership pass. A fun day for the grandkids that gave us a chance to hang out with them for the day.

The Magic House is not currently following Covid related protocols to keep visitors safe. There are no apparent capacity restrictions and the rooms are teeming with unmasked unvaccinated children. Stunningly irresponsible. Visit at your own risk.

We went on a short vacation with our adult kids and grandkids (ages 2.5, 1, and 7 months) and this was the BEST part of our trip. The littles LOVED every bit of it. It was very hands on and was so well done. If we lived in St. Louis, we would definitely buy a membership.

Two things: FIRST, there are TWO sites. The Magic House pictured here, in the gorgeous old house, is the one on Kirkwood - full of fun. There is another branch on Delmar: it may be fun but this is NOT the hours of adventure you anticipated.
Second: the Magic House is magical for kids at least up to 13. We attended with the 14 yo grand that remembered it from when she was 9 and we all, she and adults, had a blast! We spent a good 2-3 hours playing with Legos, bubbles, various activities AND the very cool musical chairs! There is a lot to do and unless your pre-teen/early teen is very jaded, they, too, will have a good time.

Let me start my review by saying The Magic House is a 10 out of 10! I heard so much about it before coming that it was a must when we came to St. Louis. So many activites (educational) for kids and that my son didn't want to leave. I would definitely recommend for anyone to visit. As an adult, I had a great time! Food was organized and ordered before I got there. Cimone was so helpful. Great job!

We're planning a family trip and the grandkids want to go, but I also have a 16 and 17 year old. Will they enjoy this as well if we go as a family?
Written November 9, 2020
I think that the 16 and 17 grandkids are a bit to old to enjoy the Magic House, unfortunately .

Daily admission pass is $12/person. If you live near St.Louis and plan to visit frequently, you can purchase a family membership - different levels range from $100 - $190/year, and each membership level provides different privileges. There is parking on-site immediately adjacent to the Magic House.

Would teenagers 13-14 enjoy the magic house? I’m looking at the children’s village as they still love to play pretend.

I think that is a bit old for this venue. i agree about the comment about City Museum. Or ask them -

I'd say a couple of hours to all day. There's a lot of creative activities and open play opportunities, so most kids won't get bored, which leaves it up to how long the grown ups are willing to give it!
Written August 5, 2018
how long do most people spend here?
Written May 17, 2018
Definitely not mornings in my opinion. After noon is when we went the last two times and missed the morning crowds.
