Sure this is a beautiful place to visit but if you plan on catching trout then think again! Over the past couple of years since the limit went back to 5 trout, we have struggled to catch even a couple of trout. The last visit was SO DISAPPOINTING! We live a couple of hours away and arrived around 9:00a.m. and paid for parking and paid to fish. There were a lot of people fishing but they only had stocked 350 fish that day and we saw very few in the water. Not sure what kind of math they use but it isn’t working and it’s not ethical to charge people to fish when they can’t seem to stock enough! This has happened several times and we don’t see a reason to go back.

We reserved 3 nights . When we got there, our site was flooded. We asked to be moved to a dry site. They said they were booked. We could not camp in standing water so we decided to leave. They refused to refund us and made us reschedule. We then lost a day of reservation due to the dates. Will not be refunded. We then later had family emergency that would make us unable to do the reschedule. I called to cancel the reservation. They then tried to overcharge the cancellation fee. I told them that I’m already losing money. They got rude with me and told me not to get upset. Which I was not. I was stern. Not rude. Then the refund did not process and I have to wait until next week. All in all, We paid $116 initially and will only get back $52. That’s not even half of what we paid. We didn’t get to camp. Husband didn’t get to go fishing. These people were not accommodating at all for us to have paid in advance! We will never go back there!

On a lark I stopped on the way to Potosi, paid my $5, and had a terrific Sunday morning. Meremec Spring is a decent-sized crystal clear river erupting out of the ground. The park is also a historic site and has great interpretive signage and large architectural relics that both adults and children would enjoy. There’s also a short scenic loop including more interpretive signage (large enough you don’t have to get out of your car if you don’t want to) of early Indo-European settlement. Although I didn’t use it, there are multiple day-use areas, including for groups as well as several playgrounds and two museums (closed while I was there). The fun unexpected highlight was Meremec Spring Park is also a trout hatchery. There are numerous vending machines for fish food—Bring quarters!

We visited in late Sept when the weather was pleasant. The park is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the historic drive, stopped at the cemetery, fished in the river, took in the iron works info. The only downside was that the museum was closed. Wish we could have spent more time there.

After not visiting the park in about 10 years I finally went back in the Spring and was disappointed in the limited number of trout in the spring. I remember when they were nicely stacked up along the stream and bit on a variety of flies. I tried it again today and see that nothing has changed. Shouldn't there be trout in a trout stream? What's sad is this is also affecting the fishing in the Meramec down from the stream due to the lack of escapees.

Beautiful park - and a great place to camp, fish and explore. This place is privately owned, but the fishing is regulated by the state as one of the trout parks. Its a fun place to spend a day or two. We've camped here several times.

Very friendly entrance staff. Walked on the path around the Springs. The trout are VERY friendly, swimming towards people in hopes of getting food. The Springs was very blue in color, even on a dreary, rainy day. Could have spent more time exploring the park further, but time did not permit.

This is one of our favorite places in the world!! The spring is so pure and pristine, with beautiful blue water bubbling out nonstop! Be sure to bring some change and you can feet the GIANT trout that live in the spring! Downstream a little bit is a great place to go fishing, stocked with TONS of Rainbow Trout. We love to camp there and take lovely walks and beautiful pictures! It costs around $10 per car but it is worth it =)

Maramec Spring Park is a great place to get away from it all. The crystal clear spring is full of rainbow trout. There are losts of vending machines along the spring branch trail where you can buy a handful of fish food for a quarter. There are trout-rearing polls along the trail where fish of various sizes will make the water seem to boil as they try to get at the food. The old chimneys, furnaces, and other remains from the old Iron Works still stand near the spring. There is a neat nature museum and an agriculture museum. There are tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts along with lots of playground equipment. Camping is available and, of course, there's the trout fishing. There are lots of picnic tables and large pavillions can be reserved for large groups. However, we love it as it's always a little cooler in the summer and the sound of all the waterfalls eases the mind. We often see red-headed woodpeckers and sometimes see bald eagles, mainly during the winter. There are lots of muskrats and chipmunks in the park. In the evening, watch for whitetail deer to come out into the fields to graze. We come here several times a year. Even our great-grandson asks to go to Maramec Spring. It's just a great place to relax and unwind!

$5 entry fee per vehicle. This was a really pretty area. Most trails were paved. There were lots of trout. Bring some quarters to feed the fish.
