The grandkids (ages 1 and 3) really loved the animal hunt -- the "tough" find is the opossum (no spoiler here). The section of the movie we watched (NG Lewis & Clark) inspired me to buy the Blu-ray. Anyone visiting St. Charles should see this place.

The draw here are the boats. These boats really made the trip to observe the bicentennial of the excursion. (A video of it is available for purchase). The problem is this is really a boathouse. The boats are safely stored on trailers behind an iron fence. There is a platform and you can see them some but not like you... More

A must see on anyone interested in Lewis and Clark expedition. It is a little known fact that they began a part of their trip here in St Charles on the banks of the Missouri river. The city, county an state have spent a good sum of money making this an attractive site to visit and you will not be... More

We found this place because our friends who live there highly recommended it. The boat house is right along the Missouri River in lovely St. Charles, MO. The boat house is in a great log building that is truly lovely inside. Start with the film in the school house area -- wait til it is near the beginning. It is... More

We didn't visit the museum upstairs, but the boats on the ground level are a compelling sight. There are reconstructions of Lewis and Clark's keelboat and two pirogues, all of which are seaworthy and were used to recreate the complete voyage. The boat house also has a nice explanation of their collapsible iron boat. If you visit, be sure to... More

Took my grandkids there and we all enjoyed it, especially me. Learn about the trip Lewis and Clark made up the Missouri River. You'll get to see a replica of the type of boat they used.

The center is convenient to the interstate and made a nice rest stop place for us. The nature center would be interesting, especially to kids, and the history with movie and exhibits would be better for older kids and adults. Lewis and Clark is such a great story and this is an excellent place to start.

We saw 4 attractions in St Charles including Lewis and Clark Boat House. The visit was free and was very informative. 3 reproductions of boats like Lewis and Clark used are parked at the center. Upstairs is a display of different stops Lewis and Clark made on their way west. This includes quotes from Lewis journals.

Grandkids enjoyed the scavenger hunt; they said they learned a lot. They were disappointed that their papers were not checked. They got a L&C stamped penny. Admission price $5 adults and $2 for children under 17. Lots of interesting and informative exhibits clearly labeled and identified. A 42 minute movie documents the L&C journey. Be sure to see the boat... More
