This beach was beautiful and accessible to all but since about 2015 the redevelopment of the surf club means that the beautiful amenities have been ruined.
I see too that the council has let out the beach front south of the horrid american concrete surfclub to a private caterer so that the relaxed vibe snd accessibility to all is going going gone. The waiting tree and the other pines which have always been a place to checkout the beach and sit and watch it are costing money nowadays.
The sand is dirty, the overdeveloped surfclub means the beach is degraded and more development is coming. . . Courtesy of council and the northern beaches worst surfclub dominated by americanised bosses.
Go elsewhere, with less cement and where the encroachment of developers is less obvious.

A beautiful beach with a really nice lido / rock pool on its southern end. Just a few minutes from Avalon village where there are many nice cafes and restaurants. A great place to spend a day, a weekend or a week on holiday.

Avalon beach is a lovely beach to spend some time at, be it a walk, surf or a swim in the rock pool.
Also many cafe's and restaurants in the area.

I went to Avalon for a dawn photoshoot and positioned myself down at the public baths. The landscape is stunning and very easy to negotiate....particularly as i need the aid of a walking stick. The locals were very friendly as well and pointed out features I would have otherwised missed. A great spot. Loads of surfers in the water as well.

Just returned from a fabulous long weekend in Avalon and rented a unit in Avalon Pde.
Wow what a fantastic location with amazing views overlooking Avalon Beach and close vicinity to the shops. This village is just lovely with cafes and interesting quirky shops.
We had a tasty quality meal at the RSL club and sat outside in the outdoor area which was just beautiful.
The only disappointment was no sign of a pub in Avalon, I think there is only the Bowling Club and RSL for entertainment, although you may feel like visiting cafes or restaurants.
There is a really cool looking bar called The Mill, which looked great but it was booked out for a private function, which was a bummer.
We did a trip to the Newport Arms Hotel on Saturday afternoon for lunch, which is located in an awesome location overlooking Pittwater, but make sure you bring along plenty of money as the drinks are a bit on the pricey side as well as the meals. (The meals were really yummy though),
The beach in Avalon and the surrounding beaches are just gorgeous and we had several swims in the ocean rock pool in Avalon, so refreshing and watching the regular swimmers was interesting. If you are considering a trip to the Northern Beaches just do it, the area is soooo beautiful, We drove around the area to Palm Beach and were awestruck with all the expensive looking quality homes, wish I could afford to live there. I would totally recommend visiting the area.

Very nice beach, bookended by tall headlands. Golden sand, lifeguards on hand & nice to walk up & down. We also had a lovely lunch at the Avalon beach house.

Gorgeous local community beach. Not like the touristy beaches like Bondi or Palm. If you are new to the surf, swim between the flags, It can be dangerous here for the inexperienced. Check out the beach and the local village for a coffee. Less busy, much more relaxed than Manly but still viby a lot of the the time.

They are currently rebuilding what looks like a surf club and some facilities but there is an existing toilet/shower block at north-end of beach.
Not a huge beach but very good. The first time we went in the waves were great (I've never been knocked off my feet by a wave before!). But also great for smaller-kids. Little play area/slide - and town is just the other side of the road.
Early evening it seems all the kids from the schools grab their surf boards and head for the beach. Good easy-going atmosphere.
...as ever impeccably clean.

I live in Avalon and its a beautiful place. The perfect example of Aussie beach life!
A beautiful, quiet, sheltered beach. Banked on either side by beautiful headlands and rockpools, and hidden from the road and the car park by a series of sand dunes. Its never very busy, even in peak summer.
The village is just across the road with lots of coffee shops and ice cream places!
If you jump in the car you can get up to one of the other beaches near Avalon. My favourite is a hidden secret beach called Clareville. Its the Pittwater side of Avalon which is absolutely stunning, and also means that there are no waves; its perfect for swimming, and doubly perfect for young Kids.
There are also gas BBQs and picnic tables if you want a proper beach day out!
Well worth a visit, especially if you're doing a trip to the Northern Beaches. 45 minutes from Sydney, and 5 minutes from Palm Beach (filming location of Home & Away) the top of the northern beaches.

AVALON is quite a narrow, and at times steep beach, not ideal for exercise, but has a great wave pool and the SLSC is perfectly located with great views.

Can I hire a car from the Avalon area
Not sure about hiring a car in Avalon, doubtful, but Manly, further south, for sure.
I would like to see exactly its location. A view of the outside of the property,as I am familiar with the surf side appartments, and I would like to stay there if possible

Unsure of apartments. We stopped in there for a photo opportunity and to have a loom around the beach. The signs said Avalon Beach, so I assume this is correct
