Worth a visit - though be sure you have space in your suitcase as you will want to take something home! Lovely family who showed us how the colours are made from the different woods. No danger of finding a 'made in china' label on your souvenir if you buy something here.

We decide to visit Sri Lanka, but no idea that we will visit 3 wood factorys . From far away KARU ARTS is the most intristing, beautiful, extraordinary, the best for me and my fiance. The store is owned by a beautiful, charming family. We had a tour of the shop and showed us some of their wood carving techniques, my fiance try for a few minutes to help the son to do some moves, and also to live again his dream from childhood. Love you KARU ARTS , hope to see you once again in my life. All the best !!!

My wife and I came to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon, and one of the highlights of our trip was stopping at the Karu store. The store is owned by a family, all of whom were absolutely charming. One of the sons gave us a quick tour of the shop and showed us some of their wood carving techniques, especially the ones they use to create different colors from wood dust. The shop owner saw his home and business washed away by the tsunami a couple years ago, and has been rebuilding ever since. The woodwork of the products they sell is absolutely wonderful, intricate and tasteful. We highly recommend you stop by this little shop, and pick up a souvenir for your trip.

Amazing skills. You can observe them working on their masterpieces. You can also notice there is passion in what they do. If you have the chance to visit the place, don't miss it
