About
Drawing inspiration from the country's most corrupt political boss, Tom Pendergast, Tom's Town Distilling Co. is downtown Kansas City's first legal distillery since Prohibition. Enjoy a craft cocktail in our gorgeous art deco tasting room or take our 1 hour tour for an in-depth look at the distillation process and a brief overview of Kansas City during Boss Tom's rule. Cheers!

We come back to Tom's Town every time we are in town and we are never disappointed. Their drink menu changes (but they keep certain favorites) and we've always enjoyed trying different drinks and hanging out here. It does get very loud sometimes if there are big groups here.

Some friends and I went for a bachelorette party. We did a tour, tasting, and ate some food in the restaurant. All of it was so enjoyable. Our tour guide, Dick, gave us a wonderful history lesson about the area, name, and how the spirits are made. He walked us through each of the drinks during our tasting. He really prepared he for what we would taste for each spirit. I’m not much of a straight alcohol drinker (I’m a fruity girl) and I still enjoyed it. It was all so beautifully prepared. We finished our experience downstairs with some food in the restaurant. We got a flatbread cheese pizza, the rosemary fries, and the Spanish baked goat cheese. WOW! Literally all of the food was so good. It was seasoned so well. I would have loved to try more but all we needed was a little snack. I would highly recommend this place.

We took the tour and Ben was great. He was direct and to the point in order to fit as much information into our time. Great history and vibe. We had cocktails and bar bites. The royal gold bourbon was fabulous. Recommend everything about this place.

We didn’t eat at Tom’s Town, but we took the “distillery tour” which costs $20 per person and includes a tasting of five spirits at the end. The “tour” consists of a brief talk in their small distillery, followed by a walk upstairs for a sales pitch of their events space and a look at a few historic photos. From that, the “tour” went to the third floor for the tasting, where the group watched a video of the founders discussing the history of spirits making in Kansas City and of Tom’s Town Distilling Co. Our tour guide then walked us through each of the five samples of spirits: vodka, gin, barrel aged gin, and two bourbons—all made on site. The spirits are great and deserve four to five stars, but the tour is not a tour. I would recommend, as a marketing professional, Tom’s Town should charge $20 for a tasting (much like wineries do) and that tasting includes a “free distillery tour.” This will reduce the let down of the tour and take that portion of the experience and turn it into a bonus, rather than creating an expectation that simply is not fulfilled.
I’d recommend the tasting at $20 per person, but the “tour” is simply not what they have.

Popped in with my wife to celebrate our anniversary on a Saturday evening. We were able to get a table right away, and the staff was very friendly and outgoing. However, it was extremely loud. Granted, when people drink they have a tendency to be loud. But, they also cranked the music up to match that so we had to almost yell at each other across the table to be able to talk. I didn’t notice until after we had our drink and were leaving that we saw they had outdoor seating that was much quieter. If we go back, we’ll definitely try this out.

You've GOT to stop in here if you've never been before. The atmosphere is great! Sit up at the bar, because the bartender was Amazing & he will truly make your trip there so much fun! AWESOME drinks! You've also got to try out whatever frozen concoction that their Mixologist has come up with. Don't forget to stop for a quick picture op on your way back to the restrooms right next to the gift cabinet.

Came just for dinner and drinks, not the tour. The cocktails were fantastic and the atmosphere was great. Don't expect full entrees or anything, more of a family style almost tapas likes situation. Would go again.

Pre-dinner cocktails. I enjoyed a flight of all their offered spirits. The oaked gin was very delightful. The wife got a Pinky Blitz cocktail and it was exquisite. Atmosphere was pleasing and sexy. Service was professional and friendly. I’ll absolutely return.

We sincerely enjoy Toms Town on a regular basis for drinks and food, especially because of its location in the middle of the city. We decided to do the tour because we heard that you get samples.
We honestly enjoyed having Nicole as our tour guide. I normally hate tour guides, because they always drone on about how great and amazing everything is. Nicole was a breath of fresh air, with a genuine laugh, and honest commentary. She could be a Virginia Tech Hokie Ambassador if she wanted, which is the highest honor ever bestowed upon a tour guide (google it).

We loved this place! The design and decor were amazing and we loved the old traditional bar feel. We had cocktails before our tour and they were both amazing. The tour itself was very fun and informative and of course, the tasting at the end was great. We bought three bottles to take back home with us and now, anytime we are in their distribution area we go to a liquor store to pick some more up. The charcuterie platter we had after the tour was also exquisite!

What does the $10 tour fee include? How many samples are included? One person mentioned free fries.

Is this strictly for legal drinking age or could we bring our 10 year old?

They do serve food so I believe you do NOT have to be 21.
