I went there in mid-July to the Visitors center and we arrived about 1PM hoping to get in to view the attraction. There was another man waiting in the parking lot too but it was not open with no sign to indicate when it might...More

Visited the Battle of Westport Visitors Center during a heatwave in July. Did not walk the grounds but the Center had a lot of information on the Battle and General Price's (CSA) raid into Missouri. Westport is the site of two day battle which became...More

We were looking forward to coming here. This was actually part of the reason for coming to Kansas City. This place has very limited hours, and then isn't even open when it should be. Complete waste of time. Also can't believe the garbage outside.

The Battle of Westport was a significant event, and is largely experienced by following a series of historical markers around the Kansas City area. Good for Civil War buffs.

We started out slow but picked it up finding the spots. Sometimes having to turn around because we missed a sign or two. Unfortunately we ran out of time because it was almost dark by the time we finished with the Byram's Ford site which...More

It might help you to read about this battle prior to you walking the trail. You will "get it" better. Nice scenery and information stations. We loved it and as a War Between The States buff, I truly thought it did a nice job! If...More

A walking tour on your own is available with information posted on the trails. Not much to see, so it helps if you are able to put yourself back in history and use your imagination.
