Multipurpose Building
May 2019
I have been to everything from graduations to concerts here. It is an older building but surprisingly functional. The stairs are STEEP. The handicap access is a little tricky. Parking is usually available somewhere near for about $10 to $15. Just an average venue that is very multifunctional.

The Municipal Auditorium is spectacular! It is conveniently located and within walking distance from almost all the downtown hotels and markets/restaurants. The auditorium is clean and the customer service is excellent.

My good review is to the friendly and helpful box office, the friendly confines and history (Tiny Archibald played there.). I had court-side seats for good but essentially crowd-less basketball.

We were at Municipal Auditorium for the MIAA basketball tournament. Parking across the street was easy and convenient.

Thumbs-up to the box office!

I went to the Municipal Auditorium/Music Hall box office to purchases a pair of tickets for three different events. I wanted to share my experience here because the employee who waited on me was phenomenal. She took time and showed me all my options for each of the three shows.I saved BIG dollars on service fees by going to the box office as opposed to ordering on-line. For those who have the time and transportation, consider this as an option in the future!

Not terrible, but not the best.

I saw Les Miserables there yesterday. The show was excellent, but the venue leaves a little bit to be desired. There are many steps to go up, and very few elevators, so if you are attending with elderly or disabled folks that can't handle stairs, plan an extra 30 min. to get up to your seats.

Once you get to your seats, be prepared for seats that sat up so straight that they are very uncomfortable. Even more annoying is the fact that the rows don't have much of a height difference between them. I'm above average in height, and was constantly shifting from side to side to be able to see the stage through people's heads - and there was nobody above average in height in front of me. The lady next to me was shorter and had to sit on her knees to be able to see anything at all.

The temperature of the room was uncomfortably warm, and the air was very dry as well. I think this is probably normal for older, large buildings like Municipal Auditorium, but keep in mind if you have any respiratory issues...you may be uncomfortable.

Historic Kansas City - Handy Location

Kansas University Nursing program held their graduation for 2017 here. Easy to park and walk to this facility in downtown Kansas City. Hot dog vendor on the curb outside. The Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri was built in 1934 as part of the "Ten Year Plan" championed by various local politicians including (Senator) Harry S. Truman and Thomas Pendergast. The "TenYear Plan" was a coordinated effort to help Kansas City organize city improvements.

Comedy Show experience
Feb 2017 • Couples
Comedy show at Municipal Auditorium. Parking was easy, right across the street. 8$ cash for the evening. The staff was friendly at checking in and getting us to our seats. The seats were average in size and comfortability. There was an arm/rest drink holder, which is a plus. Tv's that projected the comedians on stage were AWFUL. Extremely blurry and poor definition.

Beautiful historic building

Attended Phantom of the Opera here (astounding, fabulous!) and was enamored of the Art Deco auditorium building. The building and staff handled a hug crowd efficiently. If you're tall there is not a lot of leg room in the seating, but it was comfortable.

An all purpose venue for myriad events
Jul 2015 • Couples
The KC Municipal Auditorium is host to a large variety of events. They are best known for their stage productions in the Music Hall. We saw the Phantom of the Opera there. They also have college basketball tournaments in the Municipal Arena, small to medium business conferences in the Exhibition Hall, and the Little Theatre is used for small events such as wedding receptions.
We have been to the Municipal many times and always enjoyed the events
