We spent an afternoon here recently and had a blast. We were staying in the Power & Light District and it was about 15-20 minutes away. Easy parking. We gamed upstairs mostly and there was a waitress walking around offering to get drinks so that was nice. This place isn't SUPER fancy however it is probably the nicest out of the three or so casinos in Kansas City.

Nice large casino and entertainment complex. We like to dine at the buffet at least once a week. We always receive excellent table service from Lisa. We enjoyed staying in a newly renovated hotel room recently. The renovation was way overdue. The casino gambling experience has been very poor ever since the new owners have taken over the property. We do not win anymore and therefore, do not visit this casino as often as we did in the past.

Stayed 2 nights and played only penny slots. We won quite a bit and found that some slots let you play on them for a while. People complaining about not winning at a casino need to look up what the word gambling means.
The casino was very clean and we saw people consistently cleaning. We definitely could see the effects of Covid as many restaurants were closed and staff was limited.

As my wife and I travel, we like to take in a show or concert in the visiting area. As Air Supply fans, we were excited to see them once again; having seen them before in Pennsylvania and Vegas. While I can't say anything about this casino, we can comment on the Star Pavilion. The Pavilion touts its venue as seating 1,332 patrons. The seating - straight back chairs, couldn't be closer together as the 1,330 souls, plus my wife and I, are shoe-horned soo tight that you have a hard time breathing let alone enjoy the concert. As the venue began filling up, you find yourself nervously watch the arriving folks, hoping that a rather slender person would occupy your adjacent seat. Once folks starting standing up to cheer on the boys you again hoped that once the music stopped you could plop back into your chair (not seat - a chair). The acoustics and lighting in the venue was fine but it was an uncomfortable show. Five stars for Air Supply!

Horrible experience, my sister lost 900.00 and I lost 600.00 I got a total of 7 bonuses and all paid under 15.00 dollars. Not a new issue. Happens more frequently than not. You call it entertaining. Doesn’t make any logical sense. 1500.00 dollars total we could have gone on a week vacation in that kind of money and enjoyed it. We both walked out extremely disappointed in the horrendous pay outs. And the management will come up with some rediculous statement to invite you back so they can scam you out of another 1500.00.

The slot machines really are not very fun to play anymore. Spent almost three hours here today and was never able to make any money on them. The penny machines I played were just as tight and boring as the ones at the other Kansas City area casinos. I was hungry after playing the slots but the only restaurant I saw open was the Burger Joint. . . YUCK!!!!! I stopped for fast food on my way home. I did not stay in the hotel this time. Used to get offers for comp and discounted hotel rooms but have not in more than a year now.

The slots are rigged. They cheat African Americans. Jason the manager sucks cater to certain people. Went thru 300.00 no bonus. The minute this other couple get on it bonus hits all that. They push buttons on the boat. Don't go

We had so much fun here. We were in town for business. Went there Friday night after another casino in town. First of all it's all decorated up like an old time train station and town up to the casino. Wish more stuff open but closed due to covid. We found a ton of older games upstairs and had a blast playing hours up and down. Casino was very clean and any staff we encountered friendly.

I want to thank over 21,000 people who read my reviews, especially the helpful votes. I've played at this casino several times a week for 11 years and still never win. Don't be fooled by the comps, they are very poor. There are lots of machines to play but none of them ever pay and your bankroll is gone in minutes so there is no entertainment value at all. Honestly; the reels spin and land on nothing, spin after spin, you will be amazed. There is plenty of room to park as the parking lot is generally empty because they have ripped off everyone in KC therefore running off their local customers. I would not recommend this casino to anyone until they reprogram their machines. These corporate thieves simply have a license to steal. As always if you do come here, watch out for the Randolph P.D. as they will be watching out for you. Best of luck where ever you choose to play.

To the tens of thousands of travelers around the globe who read my reviews, Thank you. Special thanks to the many who vote if my review was helpful. Once again I visit the Ameristar Casino, Kansas City and once again, nothing has changed. (8-3-2013) On this particular visit I smelled an odor upon entering like the sewer wasn’t venting properly but the massive air handling units kept it to a minimum even though I did leave with a mild headache which went away after I was in fresh air. I did get lucky and landed 15 free spins on max bet and won .38 cents. If I were the casino manager I would be ashamed of the slots. They never pay, never have and it appears they never will, not even in the peak period of the year. The vast majority of local players agree that it is a waste of time and gas to visit Ameristar. You will find good food here and the motel is comparable to Hampton except no gym or pool. (No sense in working out at the gym when you could be losing thousands of euros or dollars in the slots) If you lose enough money you can get free food so that steak really cost 700 bucks but you will feel good after eating it and go back for more. With the exception of one attraction there is nothing to do in this part of KC. There is much more downtown. Come if you wish and good luck, but don’t come with any expectation of winning as the odds are greater that you will contract an airborne virus. Again I warn you, if you drive to the casino WATCH you’re SPEED from the 435 exit to the casino property because I assure you the Randolph P.D. will definitely be watching it for you. No....but there is plenty to do there. An arcade, a movie theater, poker room, restaurants. If you are from out of town it is one short highway exit from World's of Fun/Oceans of Fun. They definitely have a pool, wave area, slides, lazy river, and an awesome adult area with a nice pool bar.

We had a river view room which allowed smoking and a very small balcony. The room did not have a smoky smell to it all. You have your choice of smoking / non smoking.

I believe it is available in all but a small non smoking area but the ventilation system seemed to handle the smoke well.
