Quite a pretty little park. On a Sunday before flight out spent some time wandering around and then sat reading by one of the lake fountains for awhile. Small demerit - people who design park benches should sit in them for a bit / some get it, some don't. This designer didn't quite.

We walked over to Loose Park, from the Country Club district, to see the rose garden. Unfortunately it was closed, so we could only look into it. It was a very nice garden space.

We wondered around the park a bit, and were very impressed with their flower gardens in general.

I love visiting this park as it is not only 75 acres of beautiful grounds, playgrounds, tennis courts, a rose garden, a pond with a cool bridge for photo opportunities, a reservable picnic shelter but also some very interesting civil war history. The battle of Westport occurred at the site of the current park (roughly 29,000 troops took part in this battle). This park is perfect for a picnic, frisbee or a walk with your dog. My favorite area is the rose garden where you might be lucky to see a wedding or prom pictures being taken. My dad recently passed away and friends donated a bank of roses in his name- very special to me. The best of all, this park has a real sense of community. A real sense of Kansas City!

Peaceful, gorgeous park in the Plaza area. World renowned Rose Garden. Walking paths, a pond. Beautiful older homes surround the Park. A respite in the midst of a city.

I was there for less than an hour and my car was broken into. I'll never go to this park again!! Unless you can watch your car the entire time you are there, I would suggest avoiding this location.

Loose park has a lot of Civil War history around it and the grounds are lovely -- particularly the Rose Gardens. The pond and ducks and Plaza environment are a nice backdrop. DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES in your car! I left my purse locked in the care under a mat, and it was stolen. The thieves were so courteous as to relock the care after they gently damaged the key entry.

Loose Park is very beautiful and a great place to spend a day, but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you leave anything of value in your car! Our daughter's wedding rehearsal was last Friday at 5pm; during the one hour we were there, our car window was busted out and and two purses stolen (including the bride's). We also have a friend who was held up at gunpoint in the bathroom there a couple of years ago (also at a wedding rehearsal), and his wallet AND car stolen. Just be extremely cautious! (btw: yes - we realize it was stupid to leave our purses under the back seat in the first place!)

We were there on Memorial Day and walked the enormous grounds. It reminded me of the beautiful parks in Paris. We also didn't know that it was the site of a civil war battle, Battle of Westport" referred to as the Gettysburg of the West.

This park was just crammed full of people on the Sunday before Memorial Day with picnic all over the lawn, a party in the pavilion (can be reserved) and people just walking an enjoying the beautiful weather. Even with all the people you could get a little space to yourself and enjoy the fresh air. Definitely a nice break.

Great little park for picnic or BBQ, a walk, feed the duck, or go for a run on the track that circles the park.
