So fun and enjoyable waking around. I would recommend anytime of year but the lighting ceremony is something to see and experience
It’s very nice but bring $$ The plaza is fun. They keep updating it and making it better. But it is not a cheap area. Bring $$ but worth it

If you're looking for it... you'll find it here!!!!
Need a paper store? Check. Looking for a place to make a cake topper that looks just like you? It's here. How about a book on Kansas history? Yep. It's here too.
And without a doubt, THE BEST restaurant in ALL of Kansas City is here. (Eddie V's is so good it will make you cry)
The architecture is so beautiful you'll definitely want to bring your camera. And it's just perfect for a romantic after dinner stroll.
If you're in the area around the holidays DO NOT MISS the Christmas lights.

The annual lightning of the Plaza lights is a Kansas City tradition. The lights come on on Thanksgiving night. They stay on nightly until mid January. Please Google this gorgeous site. Make it a “must see” during the holidays.

My plan was to visit a couple of shops and maybe stop for a snack. It was a very enjoyable stroll through the area. There are pieces of original placed in many spots throughout the Plaza. The buildings are outlined with Xmas lights until January 12. It gives the area a festive feel. I want to give a shout out to the friendly and helpful staff of every store I went into. It is a wonderful feeling to have a shop person actually chat and help you find the article you are looking for. It is almost an old fashioned thing to do. I am sure the friendliness will last after the lights are off for this year. I will definitely return there

The Plaza encompasses several blocks with an array of both chain and unique businesses, stores, high end restaurants and casual coffee shops. Fountains and sculptures decorate the streets. If you enjoy shopping, or window shopping, the Plaza is a lot of fun.

Parking is a bit challenging. No public restrooms. We were trying to kill time between games, but there is also not really anywhere to just wit and hang out. Unless you are on a mission amd know exactly what stores you want to visit, I would stay away.

There are many national stores and several local shops for clothing and other goods. There are many fine restaurants (and many casual restaurants as well. This is simply one of the best shopping areas in the US. It’s about to get even better because they are going to add a Nordstrom‘s in the next year or so. If you’re visiting the Kansas City area this is a must. In December and January the Plaza Christmas lights are amazing.

We stayed close to Country Club Plaza when visiting Kansas City. We walked to it several times. They have many high end shops, but a lot were closed during our visit.
There are also several great restaurants that were open.
The architecture is pretty interesting. There are some nice fountains nearby. Don’t forget to walk along the river. There are parking ramps nearby.

The Christmas Plaza lights are amazing! Friendly people and great stores! I rec. the Raphael hotel for a cocktail as well. The stores are varied so everyone can find something they love. There is a map to assist you with finding that great place on your list:)

There are so many amazing places in Kansas City. Depending on age, interests, actual amount of time you can spend "touring". Top historic, cultural, whimsical.....
1. World War I Museum is amazing. So much to see & take in that each ticket is for TWO days.
2. Union Station has some excellent exhibits that change.
3. Nelson-Atkins Museum is beyond description, and impossible to see in only 1 day.
4. Arabia Steamboat Museum at the K.C. City Market gives you a glimpse into Civil War time period. After viewing that, the Market itself is a great mix of blended cultures, scents, tastes.
5. Brookside area, just a short drive from Country Club Plaza (about 4 miles) offers an eclectic blend of shops, restaurants, parks.
6. Country Club Plaza is, if you only have 1 day, where I would spend it. The shops, amazing restaurants, nightly entertainment, outdoor areas, magnificent fountains that are tinted with red water Friday evenings when the Chiefs have home games. Just to sit at a corner bistro, sip wine, listen to the street musicians & people watch after a day of exploring. HEAVEN!

Thanks Pat for the info about the Plaza in KC. Do you know if a lot of the stores themselves are dog-friendly? We're planning a trip there this weekend.

The restaurants do. Not sure about the bars. The restaurants we were in all had very friendly family areas in addition to the bar area.
