Absolute marvelous and thrilling experience at the same time. Mario’s 25 years experience in driving, gives you the most exhilarating experience. Many times better than a mechanical roller coaster. Then we had the opportunity to do some sun boarding, amazing experience. Even the ride back what is an adrenaline rush. And if that wasn’t enough, he is an amazing paparazzi, volunteer to himself to take amazing pictures for us. Loved every minute of the experience!!!

First of all thank you Mario for making this an amazing experience. We did “Atardecer magico” which consist of driving around the dunes, sandboard and dinner at sunset. He took the time to take pictures, shared with us a few stories and explaining about the area. The food and wine at dinner was delicious. If you want a place with great customer service and adrenaline this is it.

We traveled all over Peru this summer for three weeks and this dune buggy tour of the sand dunes was one of our highlights. It was a combination of a roller-coaster like ride on the sand dunes, a sand sledding experience, and gorgeous views of the dunes at sunset.

We had an out of this world tour with the sand buggies that took us through lunar landscapes to an oasis where we went kayaking and had a picnic of tropical fruits. Next thing we were sand boarding on the curvaceous dunes. An unforgettable treat of Mother Earth flavored by motor thrill.

We visited as a family of 4 (13 and 11).

To be honest, I was expecting a quick trip across the dunes for some sand boarding.

What we got instead was 30 minutes of scream filled madness up, down, across and, err, sideways across dunes ranging from mildly daunting to seriously big in a dune buggy, plus a bit of sand boarding. It was like an un-ending mega roller coaster!

So many times, I thought we'd tip over sideways, but those things (the buggies) are like glue to the sand, and based on our experience, the drivers know their stuff.

The scenery is stunning, if you have the composure to take it in.

One word of advice. Don't book if you're afraid of heights, thrills or spills. Or learn enough Spanish to say "Gentle", "Careful", or "I'm terrified"!

The sand boarding is really fun, and really safe.

A 2 hour trip, including collection from Hilton DoubleTree was S480 (about £100 for 4 people).

Not sure me or my wife would do it again, but our kids would!!!

This was the highlight of our family trip to Peru. We got the recommendation from the DoubleTree resort in Paracas. We were a mixed group aged between 20 and 82. Mario, the owner who builds these buggies and has been in the business for over 20 years, was very helpful and customized the trips based on the passengers (we had 2 buggies). Price was about $40 per person for a good 2.5 hours of pure adrenaline!

Once you have your goggles on and are strapped in, it's off to the dunes! And what a ride it was. The dunes are incerdibly beautiful, and there is not a soul anywhere around, so this made racing around even better. Those buggies seem to stick to the dunes like glue. I thought we were going to tip a few times, but expert driving kept us all safe. I think Mario enjoyed making the girls scream loud though.

We made a couple of breaks to take some creative photos and later to do some sand boarding. By then the sun was starting to set which brought out the shadows and colour of the desert. It was all very special.

This was the best off-road adventure I have ever had and I unreservadly reccomend to do this when you are in the Paracas area (14km inland). Even my 82 year old father had a blast!

We were picked up by the company from our hotel. Our trip to the dunes started as soon as we got to their place and lasted about 3 hours. Our guide/driver was very friendly and knowledgeable, and made sure we were safe and comfortable. He also took many pictures for us. The ride itself was very fun and the dunes beatiful. At the end of the ride we went sand boarding with boards they provided for us. So fun! The hike back up the dune was a workout. I went with my mother and we both had a blast, so it's definitely good for families. If I'm ever back in Paracas I will definitely do this again.

Paracas sand buggying and boarding is offered by a company called Adrenarena. They do not really have an office in Paracas and tours are sold through agencies. However am sure you can call them directly to arrange something.

We paid 75 soles pp for a 2 seater buggy ride with sand boarding. If you go on an 8 person buggy it gets cheaper but less adrenaline! The driver had good control of the car and we were provided with jackets and eye goggles. The buggies were safe and had seat belts as well. The boards were of good quality and the dunes were incredible!

Please check car safety and quality of equipment before making any trip!

The small bus ride out to Paracas from the port was interesting - desert and parks. Turned out the dune buggy ride could accommodate those who are not thrill seekers - just up for a fantastic ride on the dunes! The thrill seeking comes to the sand boarding part - which was made less scary by the fact we sat down on our boards! This is a wonderful experience. The staff are attentive and safety conscious and the drivers are expert. This is not for the frail or young and does require an adventuresome spirit! Don't miss it! (Wear long pants and closed toe shoes; bring a hat with tie downs.)
