Birthpalce of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes
Jul 2017 • Solo
In this place was born Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, who is considered the father of the nation. Here you can see several items that belonged to him and his family. In this museum you will be able to know more interesting facts about this important personality and the cuban history. If you come to Bayamo it is a place you should not miss.

Well kept and friendly museum
Apr 2016 • Couples
The museum is nicely laid out with clean displays about the life of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes. Upstairs are rooms set up with period furniture. Explanations are only in Spanish. There were a lot of staff and few tourists, we found everyone to be friendly and there was no hassling for tips. We were only charged 1CUC for our camera though the notice on the desk said 5CUC.

Interesting but little narrative and all in Spanish
Feb 2016 • Couples
It's a beautiful, colonial house with period furnishings and memorabilia of one of Cuba's most famous heroes. There's a little explanation but all in Spanish.

A precursor of Cuba's liberation from Spanish colonial status. Worth a visit combined with attendance at the museum located on the main square,

Anti-slavery, anti-colonial hero's birthplace!
Aug 2014 • Family
Well-maintained home with artifacts and explanations of the life of Cespedes (and his family). A true hero who rejected his own history of priviledge to take up an anti-slavery/anti-colonial struggle.

Worth an hour or two
Feb 2015 • Couples
We spent a hour or so walking around the artifacts, and enjoying the exhibits. There is a 1 CUC charge per person and a 5 CUC if you want to take photos. We usually sack the camera unless we see something that we really want to take a picture of. We gave the girl at the desk a 5CUC note to cover the 2 CUC admission fee and she didn't have change. We walked around the museum for about a half hour before she showed up and gave us our change, she had to go to the bank to get it. We have had problems with a 20 CUC at a museum before but never for a 5.

Other than that it was well worth the time we spent, there are a lot of interesting period artifacts and it gives you a good sense of the history of that time.
