Saponification...the process of turning a fatty substance into soap through an alkaline agent. That is a mouthful but the ancient procedure is explained by a surprisingly enthusiastic guide. The museum is small but more interesting than you might at first blush think. Some of the...More

The museum was well organized and they explained how the soap was processed. There was the mandatory gift shop at the end but no pressure to buy. Worth a tour on a rainy day.

One of the most elegant, quite museums to ever exist in Lebanon, the place is so quite and chill with beautiful ancient soaps and tools to give a look at.

Maybe I am not into soap enough but we found this lovely museum unexciting. Nice posh soaps in the shop.

Sidon has great tradition in soap production, so this is a good place to get knowledge about the process. You get a guided tour that lasts 15 min, and then you can wander around freely and watch an interesting video.

It was a home, don't miss that part. Gift shop has offerings (some also in National Museum, soap seems a hot item here).

Nice tour, well explained..well organized and laid out...and it is FREE... If you like good quality soaps from an old mfr. well made and reasonably priced...stop by this place in the Sidon souk...wont regret it one bit...cheaper then khan soaps in tripoli imo.
