Once you step inside the museum you are traveling back to the old times. Very well decorated and maintained with professional guides.
The outside shop offers a variety of soaps and bath accessories . Well recommended

We took a day trip down to Saida and wandered around. A friend took me to the soap museum where we had a private tour, which was honestly so insightful. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and showed us a lot of great things. It’s so beautiful to think that what is now a museum used to be an actual soap factory and the art of making soap is so well preserved.

I've always heard of the Soap Museum in Saida/Sidon, but I never got to see it.
Until one day, I requested it! And when I got the area, I didn't believe it's inside the Franj Souk! I was amazed bu the sight of it! It has history written all over it! I has freshness of soaps of the old and the new days. Very nice!
They won my heart! I loved it there!

This is an amazing museum to go and explore in the old town of Saida also known as Sidon.
The Aoude Family is a well known Family in Lebanon, mainly doing Business now in Banking , their Best Known Bank is called bank Aoude.
Long before their Banking Expertise they had a Soap Factory in Southern Lebanon , Sidon hosted the Factory at the time and long after The making of Soap became a Machine making operation to cut the cost and time of making a bar of soap , the Aoudi family decided to Preserve the family's memory and history by keeping that old factory and transform it into a Museum.
Now you can enjoy a quick tour of the museum and appreciate how hard it was to just make a Soap.

Apart from the obvious (it's a soap factory!) I really enjoyed the short video at the end of the visit which also features artisan soap makers from other parts of Lebanon and is also very informative!

Very small, but yet very informative museum! If you ever wondered how the soap is created, you will find all the answers here. The display and the documentary comes in 3 languages: Arabic, French and English. There is a also a beautiful gift shop, where you can buy classic or more creative soap bars and other items.

Maybe I am not into soap enough but we found this lovely museum unexciting. Nice posh soaps in the shop.

You can watch all procedure of soap making in a well designed environment. At the end there is soap shop with very nice things for presents and not only. Recommended!
