It`s been my second time this August and I found it a lot more peaceful and a much better organised space with a lot of helpful volunteers, visited all the big churches including two small ones outside the monastery walls, the designated line for St.Sergius relic took about one and a half hours, we were explained this is because academic... When you want to visit some cities of the golden circle, Sergiev Posad is really a must. The monastery is very clean, the buildings are very nice, but the only problem is that you caanot enter every church or builidng.

We came to this city just for business, but we were amazed from the view ; 400 years old city with gorgeous and glorious churches around. The city is situated in the middle of forest and all green, fresh air, nice and friendly people, which is very rare in Moscow. But another jewel was tye monastery. So warm and welcoming..... More

The Trinity St. Sergius Lavra is perhaps one of the most important Russian monasteries, serving as the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodoxy religion. It is located in the one of the Golden Ring towns of Sergiev Posad, and has attained UNESCO World Heritage status thanks to its impressive architecture and religious significance. Entrance to most parts of the monastery... More

We took the commuter rail from Moscow to the Sergeyev Posad train station. There are no signs to the monastery once you get to the station. We were fortunate to find a lovely Russian woman who offered to walk with us. It's about a 25 minute hike. We went on a Sunday. The people watching was almost as interesting as... More

Paid 350 rubles for the ticket. Worth a visit if you like history because this place sure is rich with history. A lot of tourists and local pilgrims when I was there (a public holiday). You can see the domes as soon as you get down at the vokzal and you only have to walk for 10 minutes to reach... More

I must confess we were a bit over churches by the time we went out to the Holy Trinity St Sergius and so was pleasantly surprise by the variety of churches to view and the "fountain of youth" all contained in the beautiful monastery walls. There is a wonderful flee market selling hand made traditional lacquer boxes much cheaper than... More

Exquisite Orthodox Monastery surrounded by a blinding white Kremlin. The icons are exceptional. Do not miss the view from the other side of the river near the main orthodox church.

There is a place that is great to visit outside of Moscow. Very old one and very beautiful. A lot of churches. But a bit overcrowded. Was happy to find the special spot from which the view was amazing! And it is absolutely free to the public!
