Five miles from town down a blacktop and gravel road you come to a delightful meadow setting and can enjoy a tasting of Mead . For the uninitiated, mead is wine made from honey - no grapes or fruit involved. The tasting area is outdoors, so plan on going on a nice afternoon. We enjoyed both meads we tasted, but not so much the partially fermented one that was not ready yet. Prices are not cheap, but we still purchased a bottle. The honey is imported from all over North and South America - leading to the BiG question - why is this place in the middle of Missouri, and in the hills far from town?

This winery is a bit out of the way, south of Hermann, down a dirt road, and well worth the visit. They make mead (not traditional grape-wine), which is excellent, the best I've had. They do charge for tasting, which I thought was worth while given the quality. The staff was helpful and friendly. I highly recommend a visit and purchasing some of their wine.

I took my wife to Hermann for a winery tour for her birthday. Martin brothers was the first winery we stopped at. It was also the best out of the few we stopped at. This little winery is nestled on a hill down a dusty road. When we arrived( early in the day on a friday), we were the only ones there.
Inside the modern pole barn/wine cellar style building is a typical tasting bar. Tastings are $5 for 6 tastings. The first thing that impressed me with this tasting is that you get 6 glasses each is turned upside down over the placemat which gives detailed descriptions of each wine. No other winery we visited gave us a glass for each wine. But Martin Bros. wasnt satisfied with just that. You also get a small cup of water to help rinse away any taste from the previous wine allowing you to enjoy the very distinct flavor of each wine.
As if they were striving to out do all their competition with service alone, we were served by an actual Martin. If nothing else sold me on this winery this would of. This speaks volumes about Martin Brothers. He was also extremely knowledgeable about his wine and all the ingredients and how they contributed to the taste and quality of the final product. By far better than the rest of our servers that day...combined.
The wine itself is mead wine. each type has a blend of flavors added to it to give very unique tastes. It is some of the best wine me and my wife have ever tasted. It is a little more pricey than typical wines with most bottles in the $20-$30 range for a dessert wine bottle ( the smaller skinny bottles). It is very much worth it though.
The biggest downfall of this winery is you have to travel quite a distance down a dusty rock road( thought well maintained) ... that is the most negative thing i can think of. On a last note, do not let the johnny( portable toilet) scare you. Its cleaner than any of the hundreds ive been in and cleaner than most public bathrooms.
Martin Brothers obviously take pride in their profession and in their service. We will definitely be back next time we are in Hermann.

My husband and I have visited Hermann several times and every time I had wanted to visit Martin brothers but hadn’t made it there. So when we visited this time we made it a point to go out to the winery and see what it was all about and we were definitely not disappointed! The wine was wonderful and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. My husband is not typically a wine drinker but did the tasting with me and actually enjoyed the different flavored meads a lot. This is a very unique and wonderful experience!!

I absolutely love wine hence visiting Hermann Missouri. After sampling at 3 wineries the tastes began blending together. Thankfully my husband and I found The Martin Brothers Winery. Be prepared when you walk in to become immersed in the smell of honey. I didn’t want to leave. We met Patrick who was very cordial and seemed so committed to this business. We sampled the delicious honey mead and I was blown away. The rich tastes and scents took me from that blended feeling of all the wine I had sampled before coming to Martin Brothers. I bought my first bottle on this trip from here. I couldn’t pass up purchasing at least one bottle from here! Thanks Patrick for a lovely taste tour! We will be back!

This was our second trip to Martin Brothers. We really enjoyed the experience! The brothers are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Their mead is outstanding and the real reason we will go back every chance we get!

The mead was delicious! This was also the best tasting experience we had. The staff was so nice and actually gave an explanation of the mead, how it was made, and the notes. Almost none of the other wineries in Hermann did that, which was disappointing. Very great experience! Definitely don't miss this one.

"If you've tried one mead, you HAVEN'T tried them all". Aptly said Mr Martin. Mead is as complex, versatile, and varying as wine or beer. Do yourself a favor and drop in to taste.
Absolutely incredible flavors. Very lovely location as well. Seems to be on the family farm and run by the Martin Brothers themselves. Definitely worth a stop here. Can't recommend enough actually.

By Handicap friendly, do you mean that you have a physical disability?
I think so. I sort of remember just a flat parking lot leading into the winery. I would go on to google earth and take a look, or just call there. They are wonderful!
If there is any barrier to your visit, let them know, and hopefully they can make adaptations so you can visit.
