About
Adam Puchta Winery, located off Hwy. 100 on the banks of Frene Creek about 2.5 miles southwest of Hermann, is the oldest family farm winery in Missouri. Its true uniqueness, however, lies in the fact that the same family has continuously owned it since 1855. We are a true farm winery with a peaceful, laidback setting. Many cats live here, and the property has picnic tables on a lovely shaded hillside so you can sit, visit and relax.

The last day of our recent overnight trip to Hermann for a special mid-week occasion we made a stop here, based on the recommendation of some friends in town. We are sure glad we did.
Although I wish the road into the winery was paved, there was little else not to like. Their wine tasting was super reasonable at $5 each for 6 choices with nice pours made by a very friendly wine steward. Although the winery was nearly empty in a Thursday around noon, we saw the potential of this winery and thoroughly enjoyed their wine choices.
If your in Hermann, venture outside of town to this winery and we don't think you'll regret it. Just don't wash the car first. LOL.

Thank you so much for your positive review. Our customers mean the world to us and we are so glad you joined us and had a good time. Hope to see you again soon. Cheers. PS. We wish our road was paved as well. Lol. Would you believe it actually was paved last year but it flooded the day after and washed it all away?

They are all so friendly and chatty you feel like you're spending time with friends... And very informative about the wines.
Their wines are delicious and reasonably priced. Love their cats.
Plenty of parking close by.

First stop of our wine tasting trip. There seemed to be little direction at first as we didn't know where to go. When we went into the tasting area it was very crowded a a minute or so later a staff member asked us to go back outside until there was room. Not sure why they weren't at the door to start with. After that they did have an employee at the door and controlled the flow much better. The person that handled out tasting was very nice and answered questions easily. They had live music, but it was in a different section that we didn't go over to.

It’s a pretty winery outside of Hermann but, unfortunately, we did not do a wine tasting because the wine tasting room was crowded to the point that people had to back up for us to enter (it also serves as the entrance point to the shop) and we didn’t see any Covid precautions in place. Slightly weird because previous reviews said there were precautions in place. Maybe it’s hit or miss depending on the staff. They have a large, attractive outdoor space that they could utilize but weren’t. We bought a couple of bottles to try at home and left. I’d return here in non-Covid times but right now I’d say only visit if you feel comfortable in crowded indoor spaces. For us, it was a disappointing visit.

Hello. Thank you for your review. We are sorry you feel the way you do about your visit to APW. Given the circumstances we are doing the best we can with what we have. October is the busiest time of year to visit Hermann and on Saturday’s we do do tastings outdoors to minimize how many are in our tasting room but sadly, on Sundays we do not have enough employees to do so. We do have signs posted on the tasting room door that asks people to please socially distance themselves, and we have shared that on social media many times as well. We do utilize plexiglass dividers at the counters and have heightened our sanitation guidelines, including using disposable cups instead of glass, sanitizing frequently and hand sanitizing stations on our premises. Again, we are doing the best we can under the circumstances, our only other option would be to not offer tastings and perhaps close our doors but many rely on us. We hope that you will return sometime to get the full APW experience that we pride ourselves on. We might recommend a slower time of year. Thank you again.

We only tried 3 different tastings in Hermann and this was by far the best experience. First of all, the wine was way better than the other 2. Also, the price was 1/2 or 1/3 of the price of the others. There is a place to buy a glass of wine and relax after you taste their amazing wine. We are not Adam Puchta wine fans and you will be too once you give it a try!

We visited the Adam Puchta Winery on Saturday morning and enjoyed the experience. They had a 5K race that was just finishing up so they were packed with people. My wife and I walked the grounds and then did the tasting to try their wines. Six samples for $5 was a bargain. We visited here last year as well and it is one of our favorite spots in the area. Of course we left with several bottles of wine and had a great visit.

We have been to Adam Puchta winery several times, and we have always been very satisfied. They have a broad selection of wines for every palate. Tastings are available for a small fee. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they make. I definitely recommend this winery if you are in the Hermann, Missouri area.

Excellent experience all the way around. The staff was friendly and engaging. We're not big wine experts, but our tasting guide (Marie I believe was her name) made us feel at ease. She was quite knowledgeable about the winery and the wines.
The wine we tried was all top notch and the wine slushies... yum!!
We ate at the Bistro. While the menu is limited, the food was standard quality. And we were even joined by one of the farm cats for lunch.
Finally, the winery grounds are peaceful, calming and picturesque.

It was rainy and extremely busy the day we went but even though we had a wait a bit for the tasting the patio is so nice to sit on. Once we started tasting, the wines were great and the history of the winery was enjoyable. The dry wines were wonderful and the Shery's were fantastic. They do ship and have a wine club for those that are able. Great experience, highly recommend a visit.

They should get better than a 2, but I need to express frustration at our recent trip. Yes, we have pandemic situation. But why should that limit our $15 tasting to the same 6 samples for everyone. You should still be able to select which wines you want to sample. Why be forced to sample 6 sweet wines if you know you will never buy sweet wines. Samples were in very tiny cups that had been pre-poured. You can pre-pour more than 6 wines so that we have a choice of "which" 6.. There was NOT $15 value in this sampling experience. Hence a poor review of a normally nice winery experience.

We are so sorry you felt this way. During these times we did the best we could. No wineries were offering samples and this is how we could keep doing so for our customers. It was $5 for 6 samples and they were a pre-selected wine flight of dry to sweet to keep our customers and staff safe. We hope that you will return in non-covid times and that you enjoy you experience, we wish you well. Cheers.
