Oh, the beauty of the Missouri Ozarks; a view of the creative works of God displayed in the colors of a rainbow arched over the Ozark countryside hidden in nature you can find Hodgson Mill Spring in all its glory; a relic of the past and yet stands for our pleasure in the present.

Named after Alva Hodgson, a pioneering Missouri millwright built in1837 was the first edition and as it is with all progress a second mill was built in 1861 standing strong till the chaos of the Civil war came resulting in the burning of the mill as years would pass another was built in 1882 giving us the view of what we have today.

Worth the trip and a lot of fun for young and old alike and if you are lucky you may just cross the path of an old-timer telling you a tale of Hodgson Mill Spring, as there are many. I just love the gift shop and telling my own story to my grand-babies of how God created the first air conditioner because you can feel such a cool breeze from this natural air conditioner provided by the spring under the mill.

Be sure to take lots of photos as the scenery is like eye candy; a pleasure to see!

I had not visited since last year’s flood. There is still washed up debris in the general area and up in the trees reminding guests of last year’s “1000 year flood”.
The Mill itself still stand strong, and is a beautiful as ever! It has parking right off the road just in front of the Mill. Travel to this area is amazing! No cell phone service, winding roads with extraordinary Ozark Mountain View’s, and four mills that I know of in the general area. Plan to have a full tank of gas, and be prepared to drive slowly on the winding roads. This is a great area to decompress, and there is great “tree house” lodging at River of Life Farms nearby! When visiting consider visiting the restaurant in Dora, River of Life Farms, Hodgson Mill, Zanoni Mill by car visibility, Rockbridge Trout Lodge, Assumption Abbey, Dawn Mill and countless other conservation areas.

Beautiful place in the Ozarks. It was a great place to take pictures of the kids. There is an old bridge to the right of the property (as facing), which is also a nice picture spot.

Our adult family from all over the US revisited the mill. This mill is very special to our family as it was a favorite spot when living in West Plains back in the day! Very beautiful and peaceful and nice to see a strong waterfall. Great memories.

I love this mill. The waterfall in front is so pretty. There’s also a bridge over the creek that’s very nice for pictures. A peaceful place for a picnic that’s right along a country road.
