Remember this cave since my childhood and glad it was not destroyed during the war. Actually it was renovated and up-dated and became even more comfortable and enjoyable to explore! Amazing natural surprise! Makes much more sense with a tour guide's explanations!

This is a very large cave with plenty of interesting stalactites and stalagmites to see inside. Entrance fee is 500 RUB but that includes the train ride in and out. You'll be forced to join a Russian language tour with about 100 other people, and that definitely detracts from the quality of the experience. But it's still worth the effort of visiting.

Definitely worth trying if you are tired of the humid days in Sukhum or elsewhere. A time-trip to the formation of Earth. The tours are in Russian, so be prepared. The tour lasts 90 minutes with a small train taking you to and from the entrance point. Plenty of photo opportunities. Musical accompaniment to the spectacle from recordings. Must wear good shoes or sandals to avoid slipping (which happened to group members). 14 degrees inside in all seasons.

This is a massive limestone cave. From the visitor centre, a train will take you underground. From there you walk on non-slip walkways admiring the limestone formations. A guide will accompany a group of 100 or so and the commentary is in Russian. The cave is slightly cold so you need warm clothes.
The whole tour including the train ride takes about one hour.

There is an underground train into the cave. You get off at the mid station and walk through the cave to the end of the line. The path is well made and not slippy but the slopes are quite steep at times and caused problems for some people. The cave is stunning. We couldn't understand the commentary but it's fun to watch the locals at play. Sometimes they don't run the scheduled train if there aren't enough people so you may have to go back later.

Departures every hour on the hour (some queues late morning/early afternooon, get your ticket and have a walk around the area, and roof top view of the sea and town) 500 Rbs fee, small train in and out, well lit very large caves, guide in Russian.

The gigantic cave at New Athos is a popular tourist attraction so be sure to get your tickets ahead of time. The tour is quite good, full of cool damp air, stalagmites and stalactites and black dynamite and campsite and cellulite but worth seeing and experiencing. The underground lake looks frosty to swim in and it won’t take long to get through but is a neat experience for the area.

I have seen few reviews about how touristic this caves are, too many people, etc. This is all true but, if you are travelling in Abkhasia, they are still worth it, even if tours are only in Russia. Each cave in the system is massive and walking past them is very impressive, there are some major stalactites and stalagmites. Specially if you are travelling with kids.

You do need to go there in the morning and buy tickets, you will get tickets for sometime during the day, maybe 2-3 hours after you bough the tickets but there is plenty to see during that time in New Athos, so not a big deal.

This is the largest cave I ever seen. It has been improved since I visited it last time in 1999.
opened from 9 to 18 in summer on daily basis. During winter time schedule changes and officially it starts at 10.
It offers different type of visits now but most common lasts for 1 hour 20 minutes visiting 6 halls out of 9.
Parking is available but very limited. I suggest to go higher and park the car on the side of the road.
Tickets are 500 RUR. Kids are free, but I don't remember max age allowed, I think it was 12.
Going there you should keep in mind that place is very popular and sometimes it's hard to get tickets. Entrance guys could help on that.
