Walk along the river front

I truly enjoy walking along the river front and reading the history as depicted on the wall. I hope more will be added.

So what do you do when you are trying to revitalize a riverfront downtown? A wall. The Cape is clearly trying to do something with a downtown that has seen better days..this wall is a part of it,

Its downtown, painted on the town side of the flood wall. Large, great condition murals inform you about local and state history. This would be a great activity for the infirm, as the murals can be enjoyed from a car in the parking lot next to the wall. Have dinner and take a stroll along the murals. Very nice attraction... If you're dining or shopping at any of the fabulous old town Cape Girardeau businesses, give yourself an extra 20 minutes to browes the wall and walk by the river (weather permitting, of course).

While much better than the truly abysmal murals that came before it (locally called as the "Wall of Shame") these murals are nothing special and barely earn my personal qualification of "art". The close proximity of train tracks, a street and parking lots make it difficult to appreciate the paintings at an appropriate distance and without obstruction. These murals (again... More

I was visiting with my elderly uncle and he wanted to go and watch river traffic. So we went down to the river front. I enjoyed the murals painted on the flood wall. They are very interesting and tell the story of this area and it history well. There are benches on the river side which is nice for older... More

A bit of a walk but it would have been no problem if it wasn't so hot that day. Very interesting paintings and a great view of the river. A good place to sit & watch the river also.

We happened upon the wall while exploring Cape. This little attraction is done very well. Interesting look into the past even if you're not a big history bluff. We walked the wall and then walked back along the river walk...nice night

The mural on the Mississippi River wall in downtown Cape Girardeau is unique and insightful. I had no idea of the heritage of Cape or the many famous individuals who were from Missouri. This is worth the time to check out and it totally FREE.
