The information on the website with regard to parking is incorrect. A member of staff in the nearby offices confirmed that parking is definitely not allowed within the Leigh Training Centre car park, as suggested on the website

The reserve, on the website, is described as 'Flat, circular route starting and ending at the car park, suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.' As soon as you enter the nature reserve, it's immediately obvious that this is absolutely not the case. The state of the paths made it difficult to traverse

There is a distinct lack of signage. With no map that would indicate lakes, hides, and a route

For birdwatching, as the site recommends: 'Fantastic place for birdwatching, with Sandpipers, Teal, Snipe and Oystercatcher.' this is just misleading information. The reserve can barely be called a 'nature reserve'. The paths are littered and there are no obvious places that would attract wildlife, because most of the site looked unsafe for wildlife. There are no clearings or hides that could be found to observe wildlife

This is a huge shame. With the right levels of care, this could be a thriving habitat attracting all types of wildlife. For now, it feels like United Utilities are just paying lip service to sustainability and environmental commitments
