Great layout, fantastic greens!
Apr 2018 • Friends
I always enjoy this course. Course conditions are consistently great and the greens are fantastic! The layout allows for every level of golfer, I even take my young grandsons along, and they enjoy playing it too!

I do not understand why more people are not playing this course, but their loss is my gain as tee times are usually available and the pricing doesn't bust the bank. If you haven't played here, you are missing out!

Interesting layout, but needs some work

Okay, if this had been my first time to play this course I wouldn't rate it average. However, the course has been in much better shape in years past. The fairway doesn't transition into the rough with a second cut. The fairways are nice, but don't drift or bounce into the 2-inch high (or more) rough without expecting trouble.

Golf day at Stone Canyon Golf Club
Aug 2016 • Friends
We were shocked as to how pitiful the condition of this golf course is in. The Tee Boxes looked like a small mine field. The fairways ranged from good to poor...with several fairways that had vehicle wheel ruts where the vehicle probably shouldn't of been driven on. At least The greens were very good, however those once very nice sand traps are not tended to and are a joke. This place needs a real groundskeeper. It is not ready for golfers right now, in my opinion.

I apologize for your experience. August was a record month for rain in KC area. During the time you played, we had over 12 inches of rain in a 10 day period and the 2nd most rain in August history. Many courses in KC area lost greens, fairways, bridges and bunkers including some of the highest budget tracks in the Midwest. We have aerified and seeded all bad turf areas and added drainage in target areas. The tracks you talked about was from the equipment performing the before mentioned task. The bad areas have improved daily so it should be a great fall at Stone Canyon. Hope you will give us another chance.

Nice Course, Interesting Holes
Jul 2016
This is a challenging course with very interesting holes. Its a track that challenges you mentally by having you drive over numerous canyons, thus the name of the course. Putting greens are fairly consistent, clubhouse is minimalist, but passable. It is reasonably priced and really a better course than many that are rated above it on golf websites. I'd give it a try

Not as advertised nor worth the drive
Jul 2016 • Friends
Once we arrived they had told us it was cart part only. Wished they would have stated that prior to us booking because we probably wouldn't have played. The course wasn't as green or well kept as what I would have expected. The greens were very sandy and it appeared the bunkers weren't well taken cared of. We had hoped for a nice course but though it was ok, it wasn't very memorable. If you can get a cheap rate and not have cart path only, its a good course to try out.

Greg Norman Design
Oct 2015 • Friends
This is a good golf course, but not a great golf course. Have played it two times. Fairways generous but the maintenance could use more improvement. Only in fair condition. The course is pretty challenging if you do not drive the ball a ton. Greens can be tricky as undulating. Front nine hilly and forested but back more links type. This course can easily get the best of you even if you are of average skill. Beginners or higher handicaps can find it a tough go. Started out as private but now public. Needs marshals to move play along.

Fun layout. Rolling greens with false fronts. Greg Norman layout. Fair but challenging. Lots of natural rock. Pretty.

Gem on a landfill.
Jul 2015 • Friends
Being as how this tract was constructed on top a landfill it is beautiful to say the least. A Greg Norman design this course challenges you in every part of the game without bombarding you with excessive length. Greens are complex so be wary of the 3-putt and dreaded 4-putts. During the week is usually wide open, with the exception. Of a Wednesday night league during the summer.

Golfing Missouri-Stone Canyon Golf Club: A Greg Norman Signature Course
Jul 2015 • Solo
During my June/July 2015 golf road trip, I used Golf.com/Golfdigest.com to assist with course selection. I chose to golf Stone Canyon Golf Club (a top 2014 Missouri public golf course). Stone Canyon Golf Club is a moderately priced golf course. Although the course is near Kansas City, the small town, neighborly feel was comfortable and normal. The fully equipped pro-shop. The Stone Canyon Golf Club staff and local golfers are friendly and communicative. My fellow golfers played a 2 person best ball scramble; they were a distillation/fermentation global sales exec and a financial advisor. Considering the local area was hit by two tornadoes with rain and floods, the course was in pretty good shape. There is no cart GPS; the basic yardage book was helpful. When I am in the Kansas City area, I will visit and golf the course again
