These are my favorite hiking trails. For families there is an education center with a paved trail behind it. The trails are each very different with different lengths.

Nice conservation center, has many family/kid friendly activities (check website). Great walking paths at various levels of difficulty (including wheel chair and stroller friendly). Nice experience all year long in all types of weather.

Love this park, Nature Center is great for kids and adults alike with several exhibits of reptiles, birds, fish and other animals! We've been coming here for 50 years! I have a picture of my husband and I when we were first married sitting on a fallen tree. Lots of different trails to walk on, beautiful scenery, a pretty (small) lake area to sit by, nature at it's finest! I like the Hickory Woods Trail because I know going to the end and back is around 3 miles. Pretty outdoor bird feeding area and nicely paved walking trail suitable for handicap right behind the nature center. Tranquil Haven of Rest. Great prayer walks!

This is a great place for a field trip! I have taken many first grade classes there over the years. The kids absolutely love it! There are three parts to the visit. The Conservation Department usually gives a short presentation on snakes, etc. in their auditorium which includes audience participation from the students. There are great displays throughout the building, exhibiting Missouri’s natural resources. Lastly, there is a hiking tour/trail around the grounds. And best of all, it’s free!
