About
Temporarily Closed - Norwell Nurseries and Gardens have been established nearly twenty years and the garden now contains over 2,500 different plants, many rare and unusual. The gardens are free to look round whenever the nursery is open (apart from a few charity open days when there is a small charge). We specialise in herbaceous perennials, grasses, woodland plants, cottage garden plants and have the largest selection of hardy Chrysanthemums for sale in Europe. We are not a garden centre and so only sell plants, these have been propagated from the gardens. The gardens are open to guided tours (fee required) and we have coach parties coming from all over the country. We are included in the prestigious Gardens to visit 2013 guide and the online Gardens-guideIf you are interested in plants, gardens or just an inspirational, peaceful, relaxing setting for a summers afternoon come to us. There are tea shops and an excellent pub for food just round the corner.

Hidden Gem

I had a wonderful hour at this nursery and garden. It’s a stunning little garden, with a friendly welcome and a super coffee that I could enjoy in a little hidden nook in the garden.

I bought a plant from the nursery as I left and was delighted to be given a smaller version for free!

I highly recommend it. It’s a wonderful small business.

guided tour of the nurseries and garden, with descriptions of plants and advice on care

Dr Andrew Ward is dedicated to his science and craft of growing rare garden plants and sharing his knowledge with the public. The garden and nursery are absolutely delightful and tranquil. Andrew and his wife have developed the landscape into a peaceful attractive productive paradise, over the past 25 years, starting from a bare field. The garden is open to the public free, and the café (a very pleaseant Pavillion) is self service with an honesty box. Guided tours are available (when in fact you will be served in the Pavillion!) and Andrew gives talks to societies and gardening clubs.
Our club - Attenborough, Nottingham - thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Brilliant nursery - now serving tea and cakes!!!

Went here last summer for a return trip and was (very!) pleasantly surprised to find a new cabin-type building providing self-service drinks and home-made cakes - this was the icing on the cake (literally!) for this lovely nursery. As a nice touch they leave you to help yourself and put your payment in an 'honesty box'. Always get helpful tips and info from the lovely helpful owner. Lots of unusual herbaceous plants to pick at reasonable prices -
will definitely be going again!

Extraordinary service

Contacted Norwell Nurseries to purchase some hardy Chrysanthemums. Owner couldn’t be more helpful. Took time to show us complete collection and then found our requirements whilst we walked round the wonderful gardens. Please go here rather than some sterile multi chain garden centre

A gem of a garden and a huge choice of plants. The proprietor is a mine of helpful information and advice. Very highly recommended for a special visit, or a welcome stop on the way home (easy access from the A1).

Extremely helpful

We called in on the off chance one afternoon and were delighted. Despite preparing for an open day the owner took time out of his busy schedule to chat to us and give some advise too.
Be prepared to spend more than you planned though even though we only bought 3 plants there is a wonderful choice.

Brilliant and beautiful

Visited this place today. Lovely owner run nursery and gardens; Andrew is so knowledgeable and helped us to choose the best plants. Norwell nursery is actually a very beautiful garden full of flowers, foliage and trees to enjoy. i could have spent the whole day there among the bees and butterflies if not for the rain today. The variety of plants and foliage blended with care and love just shows what passion can do. Everything you would want and dream for a perfect garden. Will be returning many more times. The place to go if you love cottage gardens.

Many thanks for your kind comments, it was great spending time with you helping you choose plants which should do well in your garden and I look forward to seeing you both again. It hasn't been any drier since you left!
