Very busy
Sep 2021
It was very busy for a Tuesday afternoon. We waited about 15 minutes for a table, but, once seated, our order was completed quickly and the food was quite good. With the advantages of a nice setting with plenty of outdoor seating, and pleasant and attentive staff, this place will continue to do well.

A great place to visit.

We visited here on Friday following quite a few previous ones. Everything was as good as ever. There is a lovely little cafe with Portmeirion tableware and beautiful, well tended gardens.

Beautiful gardens
Jun 2021
Felley Priory is a real local treasure and I can’t believe it has taken me so long to get around to visiting. I first visited in spring 2021, when the woods were a vast sea of bluebells. The gardens were packed with interesting and often unusual varieties of plants, making a return visit in July a must to fully appreciate the planting in the borders. Although the gardens are relatively small compared to other country house gardens, there are also meadows and the large pond area to explore too and so much to see. The beautiful gardens are very well maintained by the small team of gardeners. Good quality plants from Felley are available to buy at a very reasonable price in the well-stocked nursery. There is a tearoom too – we have only stayed for coffee but the food looked good. I will return again in the autumn and really wish that there was a ‘Friends of Felley’ type annual ticket available – I’m sure they would sell well and encourage repeat visits.

Disorganised and Disrespectful
Jun 2021
Wasn't shown to a seat, just waved through. Took 15 minutes (no exaggeration) to get served - as the waitress seemed to forget about us. When we were served we weren't offered a menu nor told about what we could order. My wife had seen soup and scones on the board so we just ordered that, along with a pot of tea and a coffee.
The food was mediocre, the soup was alright but a little bland - my wife though it tasted canned/pre-made. The scones had definitely done a lap of the microwave and were terrible. The drinks never arrived.
To compound our frustrations, the tables around us seemed like regulars and were getting their food given to them all together - though a lot were much older people and seemed just happy to be out with friends.
After asking for the bill and the manager, the waitress seemed annoyed and disappeared inside. When the manager arrived she was friendly and apologised though I got the impression my complaints wouldn't warrant any change in their staff behaviour. We refused to have our bill comped and free cake as I didn't want to give the impression we were complaining for anything other than for the tea room to improve.
All in all, I believe the management are unaware of what's happening with the staff or the shortcuts being taken in the kitchen and I wouldn't recommend anyone visit the place for a while - there are dozens of places to enjoy in the area that are better than Felley Priory Gardens.
Personally I recommend Ruben Shaw's garden centre for a better experience.
Thanks for reading.

Dissatisfied

Dreadful, waited 40 minutes for a table, after being seated waited 20 minutes & had still had no order taken, the running of the cafe is a shambles.

You need to get organised!

Excellent gardens
Aug 2020 • Couples
Visited here for the second time, the first being a couple of years ago. The garden seem to be getting better.

There are superb borders, a lovely pond and topiary. All is well tended and there is ample to see.

The tea rooms are good and throughout they have considered and done things differently to make all safe from Covid. An example is that you have to leave your contact details in the tea and the cakes are individual rather than slices.

The garden centre is a must and I defy you to come away without buying something. They have a large range of plants all looking in good condition and reasonably priced.

All in all an excellent garden to visit.

Fabulous Felley
Oct 2019 • Solo
This was my third visit to Felley. It just gets better. The gardeners are so knowledgeable and helpful. I have visited in Spring, Summer and Autumn and there is always something to see. Beautiful Autumn colours and you can really see and feel that this is a much cared for garden. The tea room is also well run and even though we only had tea and cake, it was well presented, and there were many customers enjoying lunch. A final note, the nursery is well stocked with plants and varieties not found in "regular" garden centres. I was not given the option to denote on TripAdvisor but this visit was with my mother and sister.

A hidden gem of a place
Sep 2019
Spent a wonderful afternoon here today wandering around the beautiful gardens and visiting the nursery and tea rooms. It was quiet when we arrived and had the garden to ourselves. They are lovely and beautifully kept. Sat outside in the tea rooms garden and enjoyed a huge slab of fantastic coconut and pineapple cake (husband had cherry Bakewell) and tea served out of Portmeirion China. Would recommend this place to anyone. Just wish we could have had a look in the Priory too!
