Informative and fun
Oct 2021 • Couples
Very relaxed but informative tour. Good to see the apples arrive and then be shown the whole process. Phil, the guide was great. Amusing as well as knowledgable. Good to see a family owned British business in such a thriving position. Stayed for lunch in pub after. Really nice.

Not To Be Missed
Sep 2021 • Friends
Often I’m my experience factory visits are littered with ‘ oh we can’t go there!’. Not so here, from the apple mashing to canning was on full view. Our guide, Little John, was knowledgable, lively, humorous and attentive. The cider tasting was plentiful and informative. I recommend this venue to anyone in the area.

Excellent place to spend the afternoon/evening
Sep 2021 • Couples
What a place, and it looks like its only going to get better due to expansion. The grounds are so well maintained and everything is so clean and well presented.
Such a great chilled vibe to the place, staff couldnt do enough for us when we visited. I would love to work for what seems to be a loyal staff structure.
We visited the shop and made several purchases (wish there were more t-shirt options) and we were greeted by a very pleasant young male employee who only had great things to say about his work.
Also had a cheeky drink in the railway (the thatchers pub on site) and it is absolutely stunning. However I truly thought there would be more thatchers infused choices on the menu such as thatchers cider battered cod, thatchers chutney to accompany a charcuterie platter, thatchers cheese on a ploughmans etc, and more lunchtime options for lactose intolerant/food allergy sufferes. The evening menu had allot more options.
The whole thatchers experience was something I would most definitely do again, and is well worth visiting even if you don't drink cider.
If there were a thatchers gold hotel I believe it would compliment the expanding business and I would most definitely stay there.

lamentable
Sep 2021
Just visited the Railway for lunch (again), love the place, love the staff but. Since bluemarlin have been called in "to maximise impact at shelf, but also to create intrigue and relevance in a consumer repertoire", the choice of ciders has deteriorated significantly.
Gone are Redstreak, Tremlett Falstaff, Spartan, Oak Matured, Morgan Sweet and Grenadier, Summer Vintage and now Family Reserve to be replaced by cloudy lemon, dark berry, zero and now KomBu (fermented bloody tea!).
So not only are the prices too high, the choice of ciders is reducing and so is the menu, which used to be amazing and which is now pitiful. Despite the astronomic turnover, what would Stan say. The staff are brilliant.

Great shop

No tour today due covid. Great shop though and well worth the visit. Unique glasses to purchase plus cider of course. Lots of other bits and pieces for sale.

Poor customer service in the shop

Very poor customer service!!!

We went to the shop and gathered the bottles and glasses we wanted to buy but the lad serving us was very rude and abrupt. It was such a shame and unexpected.

Popped in to get some cider and glasses as the rest of the operation was closed. Well stocked shop with things you would not normally see. Got some goodies.

Thatchers cider shop
Jun 2021
Unfortunately the tours were not running which was understandable, however the toilets were also closed alongside the shop.
The shop was open, however it was a disappointing experience.
I did purchase some cider and some glasses, but I found there to be a serious lack of customer service.
I found the staff serving in the shop to be very abrupt and seemed unfamiliar with the words please or thank you and had a charisma bypass.
For such a well known and popular brand I think some staff training in customer service is required.

More cider please!
Nov 2019
We had an informative and enjoyable tour with John.
At the end of the tour we tried four ciders, totalling less than half a pint. We thought this was a little bit mean compared to some brewery tours we've done. Luckily we had bought a cider beforehand in the lovely Railway Inn.
For £12 I expected a pint or two of cider to be included...or a least to have a voucher to use at the Railway Inn.
In our local brewery the tours include a welcome pint, as well as four or five half pints to round off the tour (unlimited tasting for thirty minutes), and a souvenir glass.

On the way home we called in at Waitrose and bought some cans of Thatchers cider, which was cheaper than in the Thatchers shop!

Sweet smelling air!
Aug 2020
Enjoyed visiting the shop today having walked along the Strawberry line from Winscombe. Really enjoyed strolling through the orchards- such a lovely smell! Staff were friendly and efficient at filling the kegs etc- there are several barrels on tap to choose from aswell as bottles and other souvenirs. The distanced queue and one way system worked well. Would love to re-visit and do the tour next time!
