Do a tour if you can. We were not overly interested in timber milling but booked on a guided tour and found ourselves completely fascinated. Our guide was passionate, informative and brought the site alive for us. The movie taken in the last days of...More

It was a cold and windy summer day and there were not much to see. Paintings in the cliff were messy and difficult to see. Yes, it was very beautiful place, but was it worth of driving there?? I'm not sure. If you are already...More

Finnish industrial history stored in a time capsule. Buildings range mostly from 1890s to -20s. There is a lot of red brick architecture with gothic revival details. Location is nice, bit of the main routes, but easy access with a car. We got a nice...More

Verla was simply amazing. Situated by beautiful lakes and rapids, this late 19h century industrial milieu has frozen in time and offered our family a truly special journey to the beginning of industrial revolution. There are also arts and crafts stores, a wine and cider...More

I visited Verla for the first time and took a guided tour. It took about an hour and I enjoyed to hear about the history of the old cardboard factory. The machines and he work areas were preserved well. The park and surroundings are nice.
