Great park for people of all ages
Oct 2017 • Friends
What a large park being a total size of 25 hectares comprising a mix of open space, passive recreation and bushland areas. The park is used for many different purposes such as walking, dog off lead areas, jogging, cycling, and picnicking.
This place is managed by volunteers and a committee and they should be congratulated on their work.
Some history: James Watson bought Crown Portion Five in 1840, subdividing the land and calling it Rosanna Estate, which passed through different owners before being turned into a golf course in the early 1900s. On the 25 February 1969, Heidelberg Council sold 53 acres to John Ridge and David Yencken of Merchant Builders. These two builders, understanding connections between the built and natural environments, employed architect Graham Gunn who was known for his environmentally aware design.
Today you can visit the park and see many species of orchids and hear the frogs in bog marshes.
There is a small playground but no toilets or BBQ's

Okay for a stroll
Aug 2016
A pleasant park with Salt Creek running through it, will be a bit of work going on for the Rosanna Rail Crossing on Lower Plenty Road so stay up the Macleod end once that starts.

Got a dog? Let's go run

So this is the huge strip between the train and creek and it's a great long park. You can just keep walking from Rosanna to Eltham along one of Melbournes "green wedge"s.
your dog will love you.

Lawns and wildlife
Oct 2016 • Solo
It can be a bit too civilised with acres of mown grass, yet there is some wildlife. I heard kookaburras and parrots and heard the Pobblebonk frog in the creek. The park could do with some more seats, but it is a pleasant walk between Rosanna and Macleod stations.
