My wife is a potter and wanted to visit the Craft Center. It is a mixed use venue and while we were visiting, the staff was setting up for a reception of some sort. It appeared that the reception would be a wonderful affair.
We spent about an hour in the gift shop and were treated to the back story on the crafts people by the volunteer working the register. He was a craft person and knew the stories behind all the art in the gift shop. We found everything you could imagine in the gift shop, the items ranged from functional to fantastic. If you enjoy hand crafted original items from local artisans, you will not go wrong visiting the Craft Center.

I recently attended a campaign fundraising event and a small wedding at the Mississippi Craft Center. It is an absolutely lovely venue with a beautiful view of the woods along the Natchez Trace. While there, I found many unique gift items made by Mississippi craftsmen and artisans. The perfect place to find a gift for the person who has everything. If you go, bring your walking shoes and take a stroll along the Ridgeland multi-use trail which is easily accessible from behind the Craft Center.

Four of us went through this museum and looked at everything from jewelry, woodwork, paintings, tapestries, scarves, hats, purses, baskets, blankets, clothing, musical instruments, wind catchers.... the lust goes on. We weren’t allowed to take any pictures inside for fear of copyright infringement. There is a lot to peruse. Outside we hiked a little ways on a shaded tour and saw where the Natchez Trace first went and then where it veered off in another direction. There was no interaction with the employees as we came or when we left...

We had a really nice time wandering the the crafts store. There are numerous Mississippi artist displaying their works here. Everything thing from pottery to woodwork. A great place to take your crafty friends when they visit Jackson. There is a connector trail to the Natchez Trace for some light walking fun. You can also view part the the original Trace from the end of the trail.

We were riding the Natchez Trail and turned into a parking area. That led to a sidewalk that led right to the back of the Center. We thought the building looked interesting, so we went in. We were overwhelmed with the fantastic architecture and art. I walked throughout the bottom and top floors. The building design is so interesting. As a side note, the restrooms are clean and well constructed. It was a delightful side stop during our Trail bike ride. We'll definitely be coming back. Please let me know if you have questions and/or found this review helpful. Thanks.

Such an awesome place to see some of our states most talented crafters, both on display and often, in action. Check the website for a schedule of artisan’s demonstrations and even sign up for a class. I have taken many and always learn so much and get my money’s worth. The gift shop is a gallery of truly amazing crafts, including jewelry, glass, sculpture- you name it they have it. Always one of my first stops for holiday shopping!

Lovely location in Ridgeland, Mississippi. A couple miles outside of Jackson proper, worth the drive. Just off the Natchez Trace and next to Barrett Reservoir, in a lovely wooded location, adjacent to a Natchez Trace historic site/short trail.
Modern building, free parking, free admission. You can view art and crafts for sale by native Mississippi artisans. Much wooden ware, pottery, also jewelry, some metal works. Thunder gourds a great unique gift. Christmas themed corner crafts in the back----I was there in June, perhaps that area is expanded at other times of the year.
I am spoiled in the state I live with very high quality artisan works. I will be honest that not everything here was super quality, but most of it is very good quality, and there is something for every budget and worth your visit. On opposite ends of the budget spectrum that I particularly appreciated were the afore-mentioned gourds and some nice budget-friendly jewelry glass art by Jenny Thomas, to some large metal garden sculptures on the opposite end of the budget. Nothing that I saw was over a couple hundred dollars tops. Regional cookbooks and the like available as well.
There was a separate blacksmith shed that was not open the day I was there.
Again, this facility is in a lovely location and you can enjoy exploring the area a bit (trail, Natchez Trace, the lovely reservoir) when you are done inside. The facility also has a space that serves as a venue for wedding receptions and like functions---would be a lovely location for that.
Everyone, this is well worth your taking the time to come over and visit. I have the sense this isn't was well visited as it should be. A nice little Mississippi gem. Check it out!
