Really cool store! Beautiful and ecclectic mix of art, housewares, and so so much more. Mississippi gift items, unique antiques and tons of beautiful handmade artistry. The owner was engaging and friendly. We had a wonderful time browsing all of the wonderful selection of items! A must visit in Ocean Springs! Put this one on your list!

This is a nice intriguing shop filled with lots of Handmade items made here in the USA. Lots of gifts and souvenirs for everyone. Pets are welcome inside, too. Thanks for that! Everything except for the cash register is up for sale. This is worth a stop to visit. We'll definitely return on each trip. Walking distance to everything around it. Highly recommend it!

Last June, while visiting Ocean Springs for the first time, post-Katrina, we stumbled upon Coastal Magpie, on Washington Ave, in the heart of downtown Ocean Springs. Actually, we were headed a bit farther south on Washington, to a restaurant, which had been recommended for a light lunch and wine, when we say a shop, next door to the Coastal Magpie, Hillyer House, that we knew from Pass Christian, pre-Katrina. After dropping in there, we could not resist also visiting the Magpie. On this February trip, we knew where we were stopping, on the way to that same restaurant, and found parking just off of Washington Ave, on Robinson St, at Marshall Park.
Now, how to describe Coastal Magpie? Well, it is a bit “art gallery,” “whatnot shop,” and “antique store,” all rolled into one. The items in the Magpie range from contemporary art pieces, most, it seemed, by local artists, but then there were many antiques, however they seemed to be there, more because of their inherent “art,” than just their age. Between all those pieces were just “stuff,” and nearly all of it interesting. The items, while falling into the categories of merchandise found next door at Hillyer House, was quite different. Though each is filled with “stuff,” there is almost zero overlap. One will not find the same items displayed in both shops – each is unique, and each deserves a visit.
The staff (they appeared to be a young couple?) were very friendly, and welcoming, and gladly answered all of my wife’s questions. We spent almost an hour, just walking through the store, and looking – do look carefully, as between most of the larger displays and items, there are many others, that are just smaller, and lurking, waiting to be discovered.
The Coastal Magpie has made it onto our “must stop and browse” list, for the entire Gulf Coast, and not just Ocean Springs.

I can always count on finding wonderful gifts at Magpie. The items are unique, artistic, and all price ranges. The owners are extremely helpful but give you space to contemplate purchases.

My wife and I need to stay away from Coastal Magpie - on every visit we walk out with a purchase! Of course, we always love what we now own. Definitely recommend you find your own treasures here.

This is a unique addition to Ocean Springs that appears to be thriving. It is truly eclectic, with several original local artists, as well as unique and / or unusual items from days gone by. Things frequently change, and new items are added as the owners discover them. The two owners and their staff are always friendly and helpful, and their staff have the same qualities. They are pet friendly, which is really nice when you are out with your dog. Many, if not all, of the items are sourced from local artists, and have a real southern feel. Everyone I see in this store seem to be really enjoying themselves whether they are kids, adults or seniors.
