We went to the Temple Theater today for a program put on by the local chapter of the American Theater Organ Society. This movie palace, the largest in Mississippi has its original Robert Morton Theater Pipe Organ. The theater interior, although not the most ornate movie palace, is in very good shape. Other parts of the building require some updating, which is very expensive to do. Theaters like the Temple are a vanishing breed but a very important resource for the community. They present all kinds of different programs that may interest a lot of entertainment consumers.

Built in 1927, this place is huge, but in bad need of a facelift! This could be a nice venue but the building is falling apart, and what repairs that have been made were obviously done by unprofessionals and not to code.
