Anyone traveling through Laurel or anywhere close should not miss this historic part of our city. The history of the museum itself is worth the trip. The amazing art, silver collection, and native Americans basket collection are unsurpassed by any museum in the nation. Definitely place on your to see list while in Laurel.

I have been hundreds of time growing up in the area. Went recently and it is still a nice museum. Always liked the basket area with the world's 2nd smallest basket.

Literally world-class art in a place you'd never expect it. Intimate, but spacious enough to spend an hour or two lost in exquisite, multi-dimensional art. Rembrandt, Monet, Georgian Silver, and, during our visit, a magnificent collection of Chihuly glass. The building itself is a work of art. Perfect way to spend a morning.

Staying in the Wisteria B&B, we walked around the neighborhood. One block away, we encountered the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art. What a pleasant surprise. From the outside, it does not look like it would be much, but the inside is impressive. This is a first class museum, well worth the trip. If you are traveling through Laurel, you need... More

Small enough not to get lost in, this lovely art museum just half an hour north of Hattiesburg is perfect for a few hours of browsing. My personal favorite work is Robert Henri's, "The Brown Wrap", 1911, oil on canvas...so much going on in what at first glance seems just an all brown canvas with a face. There are monthly... More

Surprisingly large museum for a small town. New Orleans Museum of art is comparable in size. Museum is free but they accept donations and have a nice gift shop. I would take kids here for educational purposes. Native American baskets were my favorite part of this museum, the collection is very large. The museum has a lot of Mississippi artist... More
