A must visit!
Sep 2019
We visited this park before setting off on our way to Vicksburg on a road trip from Nashville to New Orleans.
It really is a beautiful area and very tranquil. We parked up and walked for a while. We were following the purple trail but we had to turn back about a mile in as it was the season where spiders make their webs in the trees and I was nervous about walking into them. We saw many large colourful yellow and red spiders! Not a fan of them so we decided to sit on the benches and take in the scenery from the lake. We saw small black turtles in the water.

Except for the Showers
Aug 2019
We loved this park. Lots of space between RV sites. incredibly quiet with serene setting on the water. There were a lot of empty sites when we were there. Cost was under $20/night. The showers are in need of updating and TLC. We would stay here again.

Our favorite spot in Jackson!
Jun 2019 • Family
We visited this beautiful park while spending a few days in Jackson, and it was a big highlight of our trip. The park is beautiful, and the trails are very accessible. We first visited the Museum of Natural Science, which is on the park grounds, and from there, took the trails out into the forest. A chorus of insects and birds could be heard along the trail, and we even found some five lined skinks, anole lizards, and toads. To think that this park is just off a busy highway in a very busy part of Jackson makes it all the more amazing. The trail loop that went down to the bald cypress swamp was partially obstructed, as it had been smashed by a fallen tree. However, the area was sufficiently marked and cordoned off to keep hikers safe. We double-backed on the left side of the trail and went up the right side of the loop, and from there, we were able to take the boardwalk down to the bald cypress swamp. It was well worth the effort. The swamp is truly stunning. I'm so glad we spent some time at this park.

Serenity in the city
Jun 2019 • Couples
This lovely park is right in the middle of Jackson MS, just off the highway. You’d never know it by the symphony of bird song and cicadas. The RV sites are spacious and shaded, many of them are right on the lake/pond. Water and electric only, but there is a dump station. Why don’t state parks have recycling bins??????

Beautiful park for hiking!
Jun 2018 • Solo
If you live in or are visiting the Jackson area and enjoy hiking, this park is a must-see! It has a network of trails that take you through serene and well preserved landscapes that feel hundreds of miles away from the surrounding city. The trails take you from forests and hillsides down to the banks of the Pearl River, the main waterway through central Mississippi.

There is a smal entrance fee, but it is well worth it if you combine a hike through the park with a visit to the Mississippi Museum of Natural History. In total, you can make a whole day out of visiting the area, and it is worth the time!

Nice place for a picnic
Nov 2017 • Friends
I have gone here on several occasions but I think it could use a little upkeep. On the website it says the fee is $4.00 plus $.50 for each person over 6 people, honestly I never knew that maybe because I go off season. The fishing is not great I think because of the alligators who live there. Of course they are fun to watch. No do not go swimming in there. I would recommend this for a large family picnic or get together. It is amazing that you don't realize your in the middle of town. It can be very peaceful and I believe there is some camping there as well which we looked at and the sites look pretty nice. I would say this is pretty but not amazing. I am not sure of the prices though. There is also a gulf course near by and three museums.

Nice Little Park
Jun 2018 • Family
My family of 6 stayed at this site for one night in our travel trailer. This was a small park with only a small number of partial hookups--water and electric. There is a park dump station for sewage. The campsites were in nice shady wooded area, next to a small fishing lake. There is a central restroom/shower building that is a pretty rustic state park building. You get a code for an entry gate, and you must use the code to both enter and exit the park. It was a nice overnight stay for us.

Great overnight on a long rv trek

Staff is very friendly and responsive. All water sites are nice and you can reserve by site online. Water and electric only. Dump station near entrance. Grill and picnic table. No fire ring but apparently ground fires are allowed. Gravel and paved sites. Nice and peaceful. Quite a few long timers but plenty of space between sites. All sites seemed big enough to accommodate all size rigs. Some motor coaches, 5th wheels and also tents. Secure gate requiring access code. Convenient to the highway. Would stay again and remember to bring bait.

Our trip here to LaFleur's Bluff State Park, was very disappointing. Although we had seen reviews about a lake in a national park with idyllic views etc, this was not that to us. We were coming in late about 8pm and found the usual night checkin self explanatory and not a problem to find our campsite - thank you for that information. We decided to choose near the 'lake and the bathroom facilities'. Usually we have found the bathroom facilities at least clean.

The pond was absolutely muddy as were the banks leading to it. The next morning we noticed a sign which said: No Swimming which seems unfortunate wehn there is a lake which allows boating and fishing.

The bathroom facilities were awful. In the Women's bathroom, there were two showers: one of which had some brown muddy substance (I hope it was mud)...sure there was a sign saying 'slippery here be careful'. I thought well this is the end of the day but there it was the same mess again at 10.30 am. The men's room was only slightly better in that it was clearly soil dirt.
We are appreciative that these areas are older and could use renovation but they are should surely, at the very least should be kept clean. Most especially with the children I saw using these conveniences.
