Mississippi Museum of Natural Science....Amazing Wild Weather Exhibit!!!
I am so happy that I decided to visit the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science with my son this weekend. The cost for entry was stellar. It was a mere $10.00 for one adult and one child. I am convinced that you will receive far more from this museum than what you actually paid. It is quite large and has a wonderful outdoor walking trail for exploration and many other exhibits as well. Today, our focus was the Wild Weather Exhibit which is on display from May 29, 2021 - December 31, 2021. This exhibit is very well done and allows a child to explore so many different aspects of weather such as hurricanes, lightning, droughts, tornadoes, and some extremes for the south like blizzards. If you are looking for hands on exploration for your child with weather you have found just the right place at the Natural Science Center. Honestly, my son and I spent an entire two hours in the Wild Weather exhibit and we loved every moment. Our absolute favorite was the exhibit regarding extremely cold temperatures. We loved the design of the exhibit that allowed us to examine what is needed in a home to survive during a winter emergency. I was surprised by the realism of this particular exhibit. Our absolute favorite was creating a newscast with the weather reporter. Once recorded it was then played back and it features your child. Also, traveling through the snow tunnel was extremely fun. We also loved pretending to fly in a Hurricane Hunter aircraft and learning the purpose for such a flight. Also, creating a mini tornado simulation was both fun and educational. Just cannot say enough wonderful things about this exhibit entitled: Wild Weather. I suggest if you want to discover more make a date with your child and visit the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and don’t forget to visit early so that you can experience the hiking trail. I believe this place makes for a lovely day. Thanks to everyone who put such dedication and love into Wild Weather. The time and educational research put into this exhibit is evident and greatly appreciated.

    Little Gem for Families
What a great stop for our family, while on a road trip across the country. This is really a combination of museum, zoo, and nature center, tucked away in Jackson, MS. My son (5) loved the dinosaur fossils and live alligators, my daughter (9) loved the special weather exhibit, and the whole family enjoyed the animal displays. Great way to spend a few hours without spending a small fortune!

    Enjoyable Afternoon
The museum isn't large but still a lot to see. We really enjoyed the space exhibits, and they had a cool aquarium section. The park that is connected to the museum was fun to walk around as well.

Mississippi Museum of Natural Science – This was a nice museum and fairly inexpensive. It was a little smaller than I expected. The aquarium portion was probably the best part. We were a little disappointed in the staff, having left two voicemail requests for a return call that never happened.

I visited the museum with my son and grandson (almost 2). The collection is housed in a beautiful building with glass covering almost all of one side. It's on a lovely property with lots of walking trails. The staff was courteous, pleasant and helpful. We went on a Monday and had almost the entire building to ourselves. My grandson was most interested in the huge fish tanks and the preschool area. It's reasonably priced as well. What's not to like? I'd like to go back again when I can take the time to look at all the exhibits.

We went to Jackson for a wedding and had a few hours of down time. We hear this museum was celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday. As a kindergarten teacher and mommy, I loved that! They had amazing activities and were very organized and friendly. We even got to take a family picture with The Cat in the Hat. My litte girl left her artwork there and started crying on the way home when she realized it. I called the museum and a sweet lady named Cynthia took time to go find her painting and mail it to us!! Great Place with Great People!!

We went here towards the end of the day thinking a few hours would be enough time until we started walking the trails. There are some good views of the pearl river if you're willing to take the longer trail.

Finally! An indoor animal exhibit! It a mini-aquarium! Mostly containing freshwater fish, snakes, birds (stuffed), and other animals. The live alligator and snapping turtle exhibit are interesting too. Children of all ages will like this museum. There is also a large state-of-the-art playground for all age groups that the kids love! Picnic areas available as well.

We drove to the Museum today - hoping to tour the exhibits and also take our small dog, who is traveling around the United States with us, for a short walk around the grounds. The security guard told us we could not have our dog on the grounds. When we offered to put our dog back in the car, so we could tour the Museum, we were told we could not even do that and were forced to leave. This was our only stop in Mississippi and I afraid we left with a very negative impression.

Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry that you had a negative experience. I've spoken with the museum Director. He is looking into what happened and will speak with our security guards. This is not how we usually treat our visitors. We hope that you will give us another chance the next time you're in Mississippi.

A great place to take the grands for a couple o hours of fun. The aquariums and snake enclosures are their favorites. They even have a live two headed snake. All the exhibits are about right for young children. (7 and 5).

This is a fun museum if you are into nature and wildlife. We took our 8 month old and she loved to look at the fish. The outdoor trails are nice as well. Would be a fun outing if you only had about 2 hours to kill.

Another great place in the Jackson area to take your kids to play and have some fun. Storytime for the toddlers is a big hit with our daughter. Some of the exhibits change out during the year which is nice as it gives us an excuse to go again and have an entirely different subject matter to entertain.
