Mississippi Museum of Natural Science – This was a nice museum and fairly inexpensive. It was a little smaller than I expected. The aquarium portion was probably the best part. We were a little disappointed in the staff, having left two voicemail requests for a return call that never happened.

The museum isn't large but still a lot to see. We really enjoyed the space exhibits, and they had a cool aquarium section. The park that is connected to the museum was fun to walk around as well.

First time visiting and will definitely go again. Educational and just plain interesting. Found a fossil on display of a fossil I've found in a creek. Aquariums with fish and some with snakes. Tanks with alligators and logger heads.

I visited the museum with my son and grandson (almost 2). The collection is housed in a beautiful building with glass covering almost all of one side. It's on a lovely property with lots of walking trails. The staff was courteous, pleasant and helpful. We went on a Monday and had almost the entire building to ourselves. My grandson was most interested in the huge fish tanks and the preschool area. It's reasonably priced as well. What's not to like? I'd like to go back again when I can take the time to look at all the exhibits.

It's a nice place to stop and look around. Some really unique animals and exhibits. My 3 and 6 year old loved it. My husband and I found it very informative. I would recommend you stop by and walk around. The out door trails and really nice too.

We went to Jackson for a wedding and had a few hours of down time. We hear this museum was celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday. As a kindergarten teacher and mommy, I loved that! They had amazing activities and were very organized and friendly. We even got to take a family picture with The Cat in the Hat. My litte girl left her artwork there and started crying on the way home when she realized it. I called the museum and a sweet lady named Cynthia took time to go find her painting and mail it to us!! Great Place with Great People!!

We went here towards the end of the day thinking a few hours would be enough time until we started walking the trails. There are some good views of the pearl river if you're willing to take the longer trail.

Finally! An indoor animal exhibit! It a mini-aquarium! Mostly containing freshwater fish, snakes, birds (stuffed), and other animals. The live alligator and snapping turtle exhibit are interesting too. Children of all ages will like this museum. There is also a large state-of-the-art playground for all age groups that the kids love! Picnic areas available as well.

We drove to the Museum today - hoping to tour the exhibits and also take our small dog, who is traveling around the United States with us, for a short walk around the grounds. The security guard told us we could not have our dog on the grounds. When we offered to put our dog back in the car, so we could tour the Museum, we were told we could not even do that and were forced to leave. This was our only stop in Mississippi and I afraid we left with a very negative impression.

Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry that you had a negative experience. I've spoken with the museum Director. He is looking into what happened and will speak with our security guards. This is not how we usually treat our visitors. We hope that you will give us another chance the next time you're in Mississippi.

A great place to take the grands for a couple o hours of fun. The aquariums and snake enclosures are their favorites. They even have a live two headed snake. All the exhibits are about right for young children. (7 and 5).

Hi, I'm looking for a book that a friend has from the "Jackson, Mississippi Visitors Center" it's called MISSISSIPPI PROJECTILE POINT GUIDE by Samuel O. McGabey. In the bottom right hand corner it says 'Mississippi Department of Archives and History, Jackson, Mississippi." Can you tell me if you have it in stock, and could one be mailed to me? Thanks, Caroline
