The art glass alone makes this a worthy destination. Remarkable architectural features have been masterfully restored. Self-guided tours with a printed guide from the reception desk take you throughout the building, exploring its aesthetically rich elements.

Capitol #20 on my wife's bucket list item to visit all 50. Though a smaller Capitol, the building feels grand yet warm and comfortable at the same time. Steve, our tour guide, provided a wealth of information, including an excellent discussion of the transition of the Democrat "Solid South" to the Republican leaning tier we see today.

My wife and I were spending the night in a hotel, passing through to Dallas. I got bored and suggested we go downtown to see how it looked. We "accidently" found the Capitol and I was blown away by how beautiful it was at night. The entire area is full of government building and churches. I was so impressed, we... More

I went on a guided tour. The guide was personable and knew everything. I got to meet Wilfred, the Assistant Sergeant at Arms for the House of Representatives. He was super cool. The capitol was beautiful.

We arrived on a quiet week day in September. The lady in front who receives the visitors offered us a tour, just the 2 of us. She really took all her time to take us through the whole building. Magnificent! What a beautiful building with many interesting details and definitely worth the time and visit! We spent about 2 hours... More

I arrived just before 9am and was photographing the wonderful exterior of the building when Steve, the tour guide, approached me and asked if I was looking for a tour. In short order he cleared me thru security and conducted a personal tour of the building. I have visited a number of state capitols but never bothered with the tour... More

Took a tour with my child's school class. I have to say that this was a plesent exsperiance. The house was in session and all senators and legislators were present. Tours were guided and and students got to spend time observing lawmaking in secsion. Senators and Legislators took time to answer questions and explain the process. Security was tight and... More
