Usually the fall weather is perfect for camping. This is a short distance from the stadium at Ole Miss and a beautiful place to camp, lovely facility.

We stopped here on the drive from Memphis to Tupelo. It is a beautiful area with trails and seats. There is a camping area too. Not many people around, and the tranquility was a perfect antidote to the hubbub of Memphis. There is a $5 entrance fee for a 1 day stop but it is well worth it, the lake was huge with walking paths around and there are loads of places to park. There are restrooms which may contain mosquitos but you are out in the country so you just have to be quick! Well worth coming off the highway to visit.…

Not many people around on this day, Saturday. Surprised by so few on such a beautiful day. Wanted to see the lake, $5 entry in car. Charges also for people walking in or on bicycles. Grounds clean. Small Indian mound next to lake. Good walking paths around the park area. Then....visited restroom next to swimming area. What a wreck! Shower area not only dirty, but walls need repair. Didn’t look to have been cleaned, or even swept in months. Doors needed repair. Toilet paper rolls secured with lock, but....they were all empty. A single new roll was sitting in one stall. Husband said men’s was nasty also. Water continuously running. No paper towels in either. Hand dryer in both, but neither worked. Park looked good, probably ****, but bathroom ruined it. Maybe someone needs a reminder that small, barefoot children visit here and deserve a sanitary bathroom. I did see another building close to camping site but didn’t go in. …

I had a mixed experience here. I came to do some hiking and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there were more hiking trails than I had expected, covering a distance of about 10 mile. The trail were in good condition and seemed to have new markers and infrastructure (bridges, boardwalk). However the area around the lakeside camp sites seemed a mess (stumps, erosion gullies, cut trees left in the water, abandoned trail maintenance), I didn't see any people, tents, RV's etc... which gave it a spooky atmosphere. The area wasn't closed though. What's going on here? …

Unfortunately, we only spent a single night in this beautiful park in a motorhome. The entrance is all self-service, but of course they take reservations on-line. At the front of the campground is the day-use area with the boat ramp, fishing pier, picnic area, disc golf course, and hiking trails. The camp sites were well-sized and somewhat dispersed to provide a little bit of seclusion and privacy. We didn't have time to fully explore the area, but it was a very short and easy walk from the campground down to the beach and across a little bridge to a small island. We were there in May and came in with a pretty heavy thunderstorm, so there were only a handful of other campers.…
