This isn't a very large zoo but it was nice and you can get pretty close to the animals. There is a train that runs through the zoo for a fee and a free splash pad for the kids. It took us about an hour to see everything not including the train which we didn't ride. Admission is around $8 for adults and parking is free. Overall I'd say it was a great way to spend a bit of time.

After following and enjoying their Instagram page, we decided to go see it in person, while on a quick weekend getaway. It was small enough to feel closer to the animals, and we liked how they really seem to keep things clean, and the animals cared for! Every staff member we passed greeted us and was friendly. Though we are are 50 year old couple, we saw how much they have for kids to enjoy. The cost was so reasonable, and we so enjoyed being able to touch a few of the animals. We live near Birmingham, but we will go back anytime we are in the area! We really loved Maya, the Jaguar!

5 stars for the little zoo that could. There were a couple animal exhibits that were great - we got very close to the beautiful black jaguar, capybara, and fat alligators! But the other exhibits seemed lacking. We didn't visit the wallabys so give that one benefit of the doubt. I was really looking forward to the blue hyacinth macaws but having a chain link fence in your face takes away from their magnificence. I've seen them open-air at other zoos and it's a stunning site! The train ride I hate to say was disappointing. About 6 minutes long and there's just not much to see. The splash pad area with rentable cabanas is such a great idea. I thought the cabana rental was high but if you have enough in your group and it's somewhat a special occasion, then it could be worth it to rent. My 4 year old son's favorite activity was crawling into the tunnels with other kids at the groundhog hill lol. Overall the zoo seemed well cared for and admission is very reasonable. I wouldn't make a special trip to Hattiesburg just for the zoo; however I'd definitely visit again if in the area.

Small but great experience with animals and many interactive experiences, many at additional cost, such as train ride and carousel, and High Ropes, but some at no cost, like splash pad.

Two cafes with different offerings, both serving alcohol options as well. We split the hamburger near the splash pad and it was very good. More shady seating at the cafe further in the zoo.

My kids and I went as they open at 10 and visited all the animals were still waking up but it was nice to get in early and beat the afternoon heat and storms. It’s small but they are building and making improvements. We enjoy seeing all the animals and even took the small train ride around the park which is a separate ticket you have to buy. I loved the fact that it didn’t break the bank to enjoy a few hours from our campsite!!

I don't know why I'm even writing a review ... check out the tons of extremely positive reviews and see for yourself the joy pretty much every visitor can attest to. We love zoos and have been to zoos all over the US (San Diego and you name the zoo, we've been there) but not sure we could ever find a zoo so heartfelt and endearing and well-cared for (Caldwell zoo in Texas is a second favorite). We are going to the Hattiesburg zoo this weekend and cannot wait. I feel so grateful for this zoo and that it's only several hours drive from our Louisiana home.

Great little zoo. A renaissance festival was happening the weekend we were there, it was cute and we enjoyed it. The zoo also has a playground, train rides and a carousel. Our 6.5 year old Enjoyed it very much. Plenty of animals to see too and goats in the petting area.

I was really looking forward to this day with my family and was pretty disappointed. The giraffe had no tree limbs in reach to eat from because it had eaten what was in reach. The flamingo area smell was so awful that you could not look at the insect/reptile areas. The enclosure areas were so small for larger animals. The amount of trash in the water areas was disappointing (shame on the guests). Look, I'm not a PETA advocate, I'm just a mother and my mom heart was saddened after leaving. My son enjoyed the splash pad and the park, maybe because he had tons of room to run. Also, we were charged for him to go on the high ropes even though he backed out( we did get a popsicle). The peacocks were absolutely a sight to see. The males were trying to attract the females. It was a sight to see. I hope this place expands for these beautiful animals.

There is never a bad day when you visit the Hattiesburg Zoo! Some may think, well it's not a very big zoo, but it doesn't have to be to be outstanding! The grounds are well kept, the staff if friendly, and the spotlight is always on the animals. And the animals are always well cared for and healthy! The new additions being built for new animals coming soon are beautiful. The train and carousel are charming. The splash pad is great during the hot MS summers. The kids love the ropes course, and mining for gems is always a favorite. I promise you won't be disappointed. Like I said, there's never a bad day at the Hattiesburg ZOO.

We love going to the Hattiesburg zoo. It’s SO clean and the animals seem well taken care of. There is good food & snacks to buy or you can bring your own and picnic out by the tables & play area. The people who work there are very friendly & knowledgeable. It’s not a huge zoo but it’s growing and it’s has a lot to offer.
