Heidelberg is a private course but is open to the public (cost $49 for 18 holes). As a golf course it is a reasonable high standard, well maintained and of medium difficulty.
but the attraction for us was its location - a high hills of eastern Melbourne with sweeping views back over the suburbs to the City - worth the camera stops.
The views redeems any poor moments in attempting to hit the ball.

Overlooking the putting green is a beautiful room, with some stained glass windows and a fire place which is lit when cold. It was putting out quite a lot heat when we were there.
Audiovisual equipment is excellent and there is enough room for a medium sized group to be comfortable.
Morning tea was an interesting mixture of pastries and fruit with cream and muesli. Yum. Lunch was actually served to us, with options for those with dietary issues.
Highly recommended.

8 of us elected to play a round at this local club in lieu of our own & whilst it was hilly, the fairways & greens were in excellent condition. Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy a meal as only potato wedges could be purchased.
