The cemetery is beautiful with many very mature oak trees. It is very well kept! The service I attended was complete with a three gun salute and a bugler playing taps.

Peaceful, reflective, duty, honor, courage and selflessness are words that come to mind when I sit in the National Cemetery and look at row after row of headstones of servicemen who died defending America or freedoms of those less fortunate. Every American should take time to visit a National Cemetery especially Arlington. It’s a moving experience.

Located on Horton St in a residential neighborhood on the southern side of town, tucked behind a stately brick fence, Corinth National Cemetery, like all National Cemeteries I have visited, is neat and well maintained. However, it cannot compare to many of the other National Cemeteries such as the excellent one at nearby Shiloh overlooking the Tennessee River or the very nice one at Vicksburg on rolling terrain on the top of a bluff near the Mississippi River. While the cemetery is open to US soldiers of all branches from all wars, Corinth National Cemetery has a high concentration of Union soldiers that fell in the battles for Corinth and others nearby. As is the case with other National Cemeteries, you will not find Confederate fallen buried here as the rebels were technically not US personnel.

It was wonderful to see our ancestors graves being well maintained. Amazing history and seeing all those who have sacrificed all for our freedom!

I have no desire to visit Yankee graves. Too bad they died in war, but they shouldn't have been here. Same at Shiloh.
