My family of four (kids ages 8 and 10) did this today and absolutely loved it! The boat went out, dropped a net and brought up the catch to discuss what was caught. We learned so much and in an enjoyable, entertaining way. The 70 minutes went by so quickly! Highly recommend!

Although we were there during the off-season, the boat still goes out and demonstrates how to drop the nets and bring them up again. Whatever is caught is put into a small aquarium or fed to the hovering seagulls. The aquarium contents are then held up one by one and talked about, some even passed around to hold. The most interesting thing I learned was that Maryland blue crabs are actually Biloxi blue crabs, since Maryland has harvested them to extinction in that state! One nice feature of this tour is that dogs are allowed. I was a little concerned however, when a family with large dogs was on our tour and when I asked the man if our 20 pound dog could meet his he said yes, but his dogs growled and snapped at my dog. Luckily, I had the leash tight so I could pull her away quickly. I'm surprised the captain allowed those dogs on his boat, especially with his own dog onboard. The couple took their dogs to the upper deck and I stayed on the lower deck with our dog. My husband went onto the upper deck and said when the captain's dog brought up drinks (yes, you read that correctly, he wears a special vest with pockets for beverages!) the dogs snapped at him, too.

The guys were a little hurried because of a fishing competition in the area but they still put the nets out (twice actually) and pulled up some white shrimp, brown shrimp, and little fish. They shared a lot of information about the shrimping industry and the shrimping process in a really entertaining way. We didn’t see any dolphins but some really nice boats because of the competition.

We had done this trip the last time we were in Biloxi (pre-Katrina). Looked forward to doing it again. The web site said you couldn't do reservations, yet we were the only ones that didn't have reservations. If you paid at the dock, you had to pay cash. The web site also didn't have the right price; it was $25 per person, not $20. Got away on time, the talk on the way out was interesting and informative. Dragged the net for about 20 minutes, then they pulled the net and discussed what was caught; had a couple of small fish, but mostly just shrimp (which was the purpose). When we were on the trip the first time, they then dragged the net a second time. This trip was just one time. Although it was informative, we didn't find it as good as the last time. Still great for kids, especially if they're not from the area. On the way back/close to the dock, one of the customers asked about insurance for the boats. The captain (who had taken over the microphone) answered his question, which I think probably deferred from more appropriate information. He did discuss eating places in the area, made suggestions on some of the best places...although seemed to be only touristy places and not "local" or "hidden gems". Beautiful day, didn't leave the channel so water was smooth.

Thank you for joining us and I apologize that your visit wasn’t what you expected. We try very hard to make sure each and every guest enjoys themselves! As far as reservations, over the last year we have moved into online booking because it’s more efficient and our customers like it. Was it a third party site where you saw that reservations could not be made? On our website there are several links/buttons that send you to online booking. At one time, our prices were lower. In order to grow with the times and offer a competitive wage for our employees, we did have to raise the price a little. Again, I apologize if there was inaccurate information out there. I will do my best to go back through each and every site (ours and third party) to ensure that our rates and information are updated. Thank you for your review!

Family of 8 purchased the tickets in advance for a $10 each additional fee each thinking it included perks. All it improved was guaranteed boarding. The boat was packed and very little was caught during the tour. Our group felt it was a waste of money

Thank you for coming aboard and leaving us a review. We are so sorry that you didn’t enjoy the experience. During our busy season, the only way we can guarantee you a seat on the boat is to have you book online. At this time of year, all of our local attractions and restaurants are packed, which is why we offer the perk of booking online so you can get priority boarding and a guaranteed seat.

We had a great time! It was a lot of fun and we learned a lot about the shrimping industry and the fish we caught. We got to hold a crab and a jumbo shrimp. We caught all kinds of creatures in the net such as an oyster fish, tons of small fish, crabs galore, shrimp galore, eel, and more. The bartender is a dog who brings your drink to you! Too cute! You can sit above deck and catch the sun rays or you can sit below deck where it's covered. We went on the 3:30 Wed tour where they featured Justin Wilson's products and they cooked up an entire meal right in front of us and we got to sample. It was delicious. The captain gave us plenty of great advice on the best restaurants in the area too. It was a lot of fun and we met other folks on the boat. This trip is great for all ages. Small kids will be entertained by the sea creatures and just being on a boat. Adults will also find it entertaining and relaxing. I had teenagers with me and they loved it as well. I highly recommend it!

This is a must do excursion while in Biloxi. This tour gives you an up close experience of shrimping, on an historical boat. Fantastic narration of the shrimping industry while on this tour. You actually get to see them lower the shrimp net, and later haul up a small catch. For the price, this bargain. The time on the boat is just perfect, 70 minutes. There is no restroom facilities, except for the nearby casinos and harbor office. I highly recommend

Had a great time on the boat. They showed how a shrimp net works and caught lots of everything in the net. Shared lots of info about the shrimping industry. A great crew and Captain entertained the guests along with PJ!!

This is the second time we’ve gone on the shrimp trip. Very fun and you learn so much. We also were able to book an evening fishing trip that was very affordable for the family and we each caught about three fish. I would recommend to anyone that comes to Biloxi to check them out. You also get the scoop on where to find the best food in Biloxi.

Excellent tour! Authentic 70 year old shrimp boat. Demonstrated dropping and spreading nets. Pulled in small catch of shrimp, cutlass fish, flounder, and blue crab, with funny and informative narrative. Highly recommend!

I purchased ahead of time but there were people that purchased at the boat. It might have been cash only at the boat.

Is the shrimp boat handicap accessible? (Someone in a wheelchair?)

The individual would definitely not be able to go to the the top. If it is a small child it could be possible. You might want to call the company to be sure. The lady that answers the phone is quite nice. I am sure she could provide the correct information. The trip is really fun for kids and the price is right. Much success!!!😊

The tour only lasts about an hour so the boat goes out 30 minutes, turns around, then back 30 minutes...maybe a little longer. You are traveling between the coast and Deer Island.
It cost us $54 for 2 adults and 2 children. They only accept cash so have it ready when you are boarding the boat. For ages 4 to 11 they charge $11 and 12 and up is $16. Kids 3 and under are free.
How much?
Out for how long?
Do you take reservations?
Brandy M
Biloxi, MS51 contributions
$16.00 adult & $11.00 child
Tour is 70 minutes long
We do not take reservations for groups less than 20 people. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure. You will pay cash as you board.
Thanks for the inquiry.
