You get to the Island by boat and it was a nice cruise out and back. The folks operating the cruise need to sail ontime and quit waiting on stragglers to drag in. It's not fair to the balance of the passengers. The Island is nice and restive. Be sure to visit Fort Massachusetts and take the tour.

Our trip to Ship Island was fantastic! We rented the chairs and umbrella and were very glad we did. It's a pretty long walk from the ferry to the beach and wouldn't want to drag that stuff all the way. We did take a small cooler with drinks and snacks. The snack bar on the island looked nice although we... More

This island was truly amazing to visit. The white sand, clear water, and fort were will worth the visit. We found many seashells, saw hundreds of blue crab, and even seen one star fish. I highly recommend visiting Ship Island.

Ship Island is actually two islands, East and West. The boat will take you to West Ship Island. Here is the thing about this place- Mississippi ranks highest in the nation for the number of people living in poverty- including over 32% of the children- ask these families if they have been to 'Ship Island'. So this area is only... More

If you want waves here in MS this is the activity for you. But expect a long walk and lots of hot sun. The trip to the island was fun but on the trip back to many of the other travelers had a bit to much beer and were raucous.

Love going to ship island. Just the boat ride alone is awesome. You never know what you will see along the way. Could be a school of dolphins following the boat or a fever of stingrays swimming by. The fort on the island is nice to tour and think of what the soldiers back then endured. This is a nice... More

My husband and 8 year old daughter went to Ship Island on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. I suggest renting the two chairs and umbrella for $25 and not loading around your own. You can pay for all of this before getting on the boat at the ticket office. I wouldn't want to carry my own chairs because it... More

We motored out to Ship Island on a beautiful day in August. My favorite activity is going to buy a hot dog at the concession stand. They are the best hot dogs in the world when you're out there in the sand and sun! We spent a good deal of time in the fort, Fort Massachusetts. If you go, plan... More

Really nice beach. The walk from the ship to the beach is long and hot in July, but worth it once you get there. Chairs and umbrellas for rent. Food and restrooms are available. Fort Massachusetts tour is no cost and informative. Everything well maintained and clean.
