This museum is such a treasure to have in a town the size of Winona. Not so big that you are overwhelmed, but a world-class collection of art. The permanent collection is always worth seeing and the special exhibits are always nice, too. A must see/do when in Winona.

This unassuming building houses a world class collection of fine art. I was blown away by the number of world renowned artists represented here. They have Picasso, Renoir, Cezanne, Mondrian, Seurat, Matisse, Gaugin, Kandinsky, Homer, Audubon, Cassatt, Wyeth (both Andrew and Jamie), Degas, Van Gogh, and many more. I highly recommend visiting this museum. Someone we met in Rochester, MN... More

To my surprise, there is an art museum on the outside of Winona filled with great pieces. Many great works and also artifacts related to the Titanic. They have a Picasso. I went for the marine tattoo display which was unique and informative. I highly recommend a visit for people who have appreciation for art.

The Marine Art Museum was an unexpected gem. The title doesn't capture the breadth of its exhibits. While all the art has some connection to water, it can be tenuous, which provides a wonderful viewing experience, in a beautifully designed and constructed space.

We discovered the museum as we looked for an attraction near an overnight stop on a short road trip. The name intrigued us as Winona, while right of the Mississippi, is a long way from what one associates with “Marine Art.” Nevertheless, it was a wonderful experience with permanent galleries displaying a number of works that one would expect to... The quality of the exhibits, the display of the art, the descriptions and the history of each piece at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum would seem to belong to a metropolitan museum. Indeed, I have been to art centers in much larger population centers that could not compare to this museum. If you check out this museum online, you will... More

Having been here many times, I am still amazed every visit. A great museum, 'punching well above its weight'. The quality of the art on display is exceptional. The permanent exhibition is small but world class. Each of the special exhibits I have seen have been exceptional. Worth the entry fee many times over.
