This museum does have a few "sailing" type paintings and some related art work BUT the secret is the large amount of "Old Masters" painting from such artists as Whistler, Van Gough, Picasso, and others. The "Washington Crossing the Delaware" painting that hung in the White House for 30 plus years is also here. Each painting has a description and... More

The Hand of the River: Works by Moira Bateman and Leo Smith is well worth seeing. I learned a great deal about the eco art techniques used by Ms Bateman. The wood art of Mr Smith is exceptional. 150 Years of Marine Art is also very interesting and includes works by master artists of many schools and eras. Washington Crossing... More

and delighted to find two new vaulted galleries built since then. High point was an original "Washington Crossing the Delaware" which once hung in the West Wing of the White House

We have visited twice and enjoyed a special exhibit each time, in addition to the museum's collection. It is a lovely setting and an attractive building. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you have the opportunity to visit, be sure to go. You won't be disappointed.

As a stop on a road trip along MN/WI we stopped at the museum for only $7 a person. There are pieces of art from all over the country and world. Many famous pieces from artists who have their art in national museums. The family that is funding the purchases of these pieces of art has been generous enough to... More

MMAM needs to advertise more... this is a serious museum with works by multiple American and European masters, including Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Gaugin, Cezanne, Whistler, Singer Sargent, many others. Some would say a highlight of the collection is the smaller of the two extant Leutze's "Washington Crossing the Delaware", previously hanging in the White House, (the other larger one... More

Here is personal collection of fine art that has been assembled only recently, with an emphasis on seascapes, rivers, ships and related water scenes. At heart it has a Hudson River School focus with the feeling of a work in progress. The building is comfortable and the great room recently added works very well.

After finishing a business trip meeting, I had a little time before needing to depart and found this "Thing to do" on TripAdvisor. Not a disappointment! I never knew this museum would have paintings from world famous artists all centered around the maritime theme in museum class facilities. Monet, Van Gogh, etc. I definitely received an education and gained greater... More
