The Marine Museum is filled with treasures by great masters: impressionists, HUdson River school artists and modern artists in a gem of a building that is not overwhelming as art museums often are. They do not display their entire collection but their most recent acquisitions including an ethereal Matisse were displayed so that their relationship to other works already in... More

I cannot believe we are lucky enough to have such a wonderful local art museum. My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday, and were blown away! The artwork of many old masters was displayed in this great museum! We were shocked! Winslow Homer, James Whistler, Picasso, and many others. The museum is set along the scenic Mississippi River.... Our expectation that this would be a dull little provincial museum was shattered immediately upon entering the open spacious lobby and purchasing our tickets from the friendly guest services representative. The exhibits themselves were stunning and the museum made very good use of interpretive signs next to most of them to give some history and context. There were paintings by... More

Road trip with a friend. Heard there was a love and hate in the arts presentation ...excellent, humorous, informative! Did look at the art in a different frame of mind. Monet, Piccaso...hidden gems . The Adam Thurman print exhibit was wonderful. Truly enjoyed the range of art...photos, paintings, prints...1600's to present .

....…and this can be extrapolated to a suspicion of the museum we have never heard of. Winona, Minnesota on the banks of the still-young Mississippi has one, but be not a-feared as this one will knock your socks off. It is hard at least not to be a little wondering, first by the town then by the location in an... More

Who would know Winona has a great art museum that includes some paintings from well-known artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Cézanne and Homer, as well as one of three paintings of Washington Crossing the Delaware? My wife, daughter and I visited the museum and were amazed at the art collection available to see. The admission price is very... More

Very surprised to find this gem! Wonderful collection that we were definitely not expecting to find in this smaller museum. Monet, Renoir, Mattisse, Van Gogh, Picasso, Homer......Couldn't believe it! Alot of the collection is private/permanent. We visited during the Jack Gray exhibit...a must see. Keep up the great work MMAM!

A small-town rich guy's collection of water-related artwork. Located on a truck route in what appears to be an industrial zone.

While a small museum off the beaten path is well worth the visit as it has world class art well presented.
