Wow. The view is so worth it. When we got to the trailhead, we were a bit curious about whether the trail (steps) would take us as long as the sign suggests. We're in our mid-30's and just getting back into shape and so we...More

No state park sticker is required. It’s worth making the climb just for the workout, but the view is great.

We enjoy coming back to this park. The trails are woodys and a little challenging -- but not too much. The view of the Mississippi River is excellent.

There are many places to stop along the Minnesota portion of the Great River Road. This small state park is one of them. The major knock is there is only one trail, and calling it a trail is a stretch. It's really a really long...More

The park seems to mostly be a staircase that leads up the bluff. Not a place for those with balance problems or bad knees. Seriously a lot of steps (800+) and not always on even ground or with a handrail. Garvin heights look out in...More

This is a nice place to pack a lunch and watch the boats go by. There are interesting house boats to feast your eyes on. Good for people watching.

The steps and climb up to the top of the bluff aren't for the wimps.... It's quite a climb, but well worth it. Can see for miles up and downstream on a clear day

My wife and I visited John Latsch State Park recently. It is a very small park with a challenging stairway climb to a bluff that overlooks the Mississippi River valley. It is not for the faint of heart, or for those not prepared to walk...More
